Front reg plate mount

Anyone know, do MSport cars arrive at the dealer with or without the front plate mount fitted? I was assuming it is maybe fitted at PDI?

If that's the case then I fancy asking for it to be left off and will just Velcro straight onto the bumper.

Good idea / bad idea?

Just looked at the pic on my phone of my F32 30 minutes after it had arrived at the dealer!.....NO front number plate carrier on it ( funny had never noticed that before! ), so looks like they come from the factory without and are fitted by the dealer.
As for good idea/bad idea....think it's more down to personal taste and what you prefer....would make the front look 'cleaner' if you know what I mean?

Thanks, hope the F30/31 is the same.
My train of thought is along the lines of looking sleeker.
Think I might ask for it not to be fitted

The e92 never used to have the mount and the 'plate always bowed just a little without it. My wife's e88 at the time had it and looked better.

Now the F30 has the mount but someone posted pics on here without it (a white modded Msport - can't remember who) and I seem to recall the 'plate is angled downwards slightly.

For me it's an OCD thing, I'd notice the angled 'plate more than I'd notice the mount.

Front Plate Brackets

BMW's come without the front brackets installed. In states where a front plate is required by law, PDI installs them automatically unless the customer says otherwise. Tow-hook brackets are increasingly becoming popular. Most people hate the idea of have holes drilled into their bumpers...plus the front looks clean without anything on it. If you go to a car meet, or you're in a state that doesn't require a front plate...you can just unscrew it...

The salesman gave me the option when I went in to sign the paperwork, I think it looks better with the mount so had it fitted

Collected my 4 series today.. Back comes pre-drilled but front is the dealer who has to drill. I opted out but then found out that it looks much better with the black bracket dealers fit if you let them drill and fit so i went for it.

Seems a split opinion on this one. Mine (and the majority of the ones I have seen) have the bracket. Not sure if this issue is unique to the m sport with it having a different bumper, but the first one I saw without the bracket I felt the number plate pointed downwards too much to look 'correct'. (The bracket is a lot deeper at its lower end.)

Yes, you could argue it is a cleaner look, and as we all enjoy our mpg so much, the drag factor (and not to mention weight) will both be improved by not haivng the bracket!

(And not that any of us would think of such a thing, but I doubt it means it points downwards enough to avoid being read by a high mounted speed camera!)
