Anyone done Opti Coat?

I was looking into it today. Seems like it could be nice to have. Anyone have any experience having it?

Any good places to go near Chicago?

That's one of the first things I did to my car. It offers great protection, and is much harder\scratch resistant than regular clear coat, although not invincible of coarse. You'll still need to mind your "p"s and "q"s when washing and drying.

$700 and well worth it. Car stays cleaner, easier to wash and rain, water just sheds right off.

i have been looking into this. i usually use klasse every once in awhile and thats had my 14 year old car looking new to this day! (besides some dents and scratches) the paint looks showroom condition when I wash it.

I dont have experience with it myself but the couple people I work with that had it done said it was expensive but well worth it, so im sold. (Subaru BRZ, Audi RS5)
they both paid a detailer closer to $1300 IIRC but i dont know what flavor they got (2.0, pro?)

Im thinking clay bar, Klasse, then opti coat FTW!

been doing some research and it looks like Modesta is better than opti or Cquartz, but its also double the price. I think they are all good solutions and any of them in budget is worth getting. Im leaning towards cquartz after watching comparisons between them.

I've had the pro done on my 2009 Cayman. It was about 18 months ago. for the first year it was great. I think it's starting to wear a bit in some spots and some "swirls" are showing. I don't think it's as permanent as they say. That said, I think the swirls that are appearing are actually in the opti coat and not in the clear coat, so that's a good thing.

Opti coat is very YMMV...its all about the installer and how well they prep the car

Gentlemen, please do not go on just the word of the guy selling Opti-Coat to you. Due-diligence is a must. Do your own research.

We prepared this piece for people so they could have realistic expectations of what Opti-Coat will do for them and how it should be cared for. http://detaileddesignsautospa.com/blog/opti-coat/
