New Car
Hey Guys,
I've been on this forum for a while, but not active in posts as such. Thought I'd share that I've placed a new order on a car today, model and spec as follows: 2.0D MSport Saloon, Manual Alpine White Coral Red Leather Xenon Headlights (not visibility pack) Brushed Aluminium Trim High Gloss Black Trim Full Black Panel Display Model Designation Deletion (rear) Expected delivery date to be 2nd week of June. Is there anything to note with these cars, recalls, issues you guys have experienced? Thanks, Z. Last edited by new_owner; 07-24-2015 at 02:12 PM.. |

Sounds a great car. White with Red Leather really works.
The Xenons are a must, much better than the standard Halogens. Though any reason for not getting the Vis Pack? It's fantastic? A bargain at £200 ish extra. Good luck with the wait!

Thanks Rich.
I just didn't value the other bits, personal preference. I've had xenons before, without adaptive lights and I didn't miss it then. Does anyone know what the difference between the black panel display and full black display panel is? It's £140 option but what enhancements does it give you over the standard and is it worth it? Thanks, Z |

Sounds a good spec and xenons are almost a must if you do a lot of non city / town night time driving.
If you are looking at black panel, have a look at costs for items where it is included. Mine is due same time |

Black panel alone isn't worth it, it's only required IMO for Nav (or other features that already include it).
Vis pack is great, one of my favourite things aside from HUD. |

Thanks for all the messages guys!
Does anyone happen to know if the tyres on the 320D MSport model are the same size or the rear ones wider? Also what is the tyre size they come with? I know it's 18". Thanks, Z |

Must be an issue with BMW website then. I copied and pasted directly from the page.

Data section on website relating to tyres isn't accurate in my experience. I've a 320i M Sport xDrive and data section said all tyres the same, but in reality the rears are wider.
P.S. If you've never had Xenon's then you won't miss them, but never go from a car with Xenon's to one with standard halogen! |

With regards to the black panel display, if you don't spec it, you just get the mpg swing meter like the older models.

Got confirmation this morning from the dealer that production control have accepted the car and it's been assigned a chassis number; F869902.
He did say the status code but can't remember what it was, 5xx something I think. Expected to have the car by first week of June as opposed to second week. Thanks, Z |

In terms of black display, the difference is that the display changes (a little) depending on mode - in eco mode you get a blue graph thing and other modes you get a digital MPG, whereas without black you get a swing graph. Also, with Black full display, you get more information: 1) Next street/junction name shown below the turn direction ("Turn into Church Street") 2) On motorways, you get lane guidance (in the form of "--^^^" at the bottom of the display) to indicate stay in right 3 lanes of motorway - looks better than my ascii example here. 3) If you are in eco mode, it displays 'hints' - ease of gas as junction coming off, slow down, etc. 4) The display looks cleaner - more 'hi tech' For me, as you spent 99% of the time 'in' the car and its what you see, I felt the £140 or whatever was worth the black display. The only down side of the black display is that there is an empty slot below the speedo, which you think could display other useful information, but is just blank. Doh! Yeah I went back to the dealer after some reading on the black panel display and got it added. I don't have nav or the lane guidance assistance so it won't be showing anything like that on mine.

What about the steering? I've never driven one without either Servotronic Steering or VSS, does that make a big difference?
And front PDC, thats a must have for me |

Whoop whoop, just checked the vin decoder website and my car details are on there and it finished being built on the 5/5/2014.
Going to call the dealers to find out the delivery time now, I'm hoping it's not going to be another month just for that! |
