Key coding help
Thought this would be the best place to ask.
A friend needs their key coded for their e90. Does this have to be done at bmw or is this something other places should be able to do? Anyone know rough prices for this?

Dealer's job.
ID, V5 and £250-300 (I was told that).

A decent Indy should be able to code them as there are various 3rd party tools that will code a dealer key. e.g. BMW Multi Tool, BMW Explorer, BMW Keycoder. You can recode used keys using a cheap Hi-Tag Tool but the used key will need to come with its ISN. Which is very very rare. Alternatively the proper geeky way is to take a dump of your CAS EEPROM and again most Hi-tag tools can read the secret key. |
