335d xdrive noise

Just wondered if 335d drivers can tell me if the engine sound is piped throgh the speakers.
I took 640d for a test drive and couldn't stop smiling every time I flexed my right foot.
335d xdrive touring imminent +kitchen sink spec.

Don't think it is piped...actually pretty certain it isn't.

Does sound great for a diesel though....MUCH better than 530d.

Deep gutterall growl with hint of turbo whistle that is strangely addictive...great in the cabin but from outside I am sure it just sounds like a normal 6 pot diesel.

How big a step up in performance over 530d/330d?

In comparison to my 530d it 'feels' like quite a marked step up. Think this is a combination of the obvious extra BHP/Torque the sound and the slightly more raw nature of a 3 over a 5. The 530d is deceptively quick but doesn't 'feel' it as the whole experience is more detached and 'numb'...and you get get the power down really well with the Xdrive.

I would not choose to do the 25-30k per year I do in the 335d over my 530d but this will be my wife's/family car for the next 5-7 years (max 8k per year) and I think it's a corker!!

I hope I never have to have a car with piped sound. I'd prefer shit diesel noise than some bollocks played to fake it. Utter wank.

I wouldn't put it quite like that but I agree with the sentiment.

You could always debadge! I have with this partly in mind, but now wondering my thinking was wrong! By that I mean that anyone else looking at it assumes its debadged 320d (as they normally are), and so tries to take the piss. Plenty times I'm sure that if they'd seen it was actually a 335d then they wouldn't have bothered!

+1. Can be very quiet when pottering along in Eco mode but put it in Sport, drop a few gears, floor it and you will attract some attention. Not sure it sounds any better / worse on the outside than it does on the inside tbh. Sounds great to me.

If you want sweet noises you want an Audi SQ5 ........ Oh my, incredible. Can't stop smiling when I drive it. Love the looks of pedestrians.
