Seat height adjustment

Now is it me or does the seat not adjust to a very high on the sport seats? I have manual seat adjustments.

Any ideas on how to get the seat any higher?

I would say the complete opposite, when i got my car i thought how low the roof is, my head was nearly touching it and i'm only 5'10"!

Then i remembered about the height adjustment and put it down a lot!

Mines is near enough down at the bottom as well (I am 5' 9") I wanted to see how high it would go by getting out of the seat and then see how high it got without any of my weight on the seat.

Someone a while back was moaning and once they found the tilt lever for the seat base they were ok. Not the height, or the back rest but the tilt...

I also noticed the manual seats don't go that high, I'm 6'3 and have them as high as they go

I prefer a slightly higher driving position and is the only draw back at the moment. Don't understand why the seat is designed not to go high basically!

Might have a play with the tilt lever and see if it improves.

Seriously? Your head must be hitting the roof! I'm 5ft 10 and have to lower the height and also so I can fully see the dials!

This could be an issue with the manual seats as I'm 5' 10" and with the seat right at the top of the travel, it's still not that high. Also, if you adjust the tilt it makes my legs sit at a ridiculous angle where they would probably be more comfortable resting them on the dashboard than trying to use the pedals...

Depends on how forward/backward/reclined the seat is sitting, will have significant effect on height.

i.e. If the seat is pushed forward and raised up it's easier to reach the roof with your head rather than seat reclined and pushed backward, the gap between your head and roof becomes greater.

An interesting mix of driving positions... Coming from standard seats in an E90 the sport seats are so far superior!

I'm 6'0" and have the rear of the seat as low as it will go, the front of the seat as high as it will go... There is probably about 5" above my head but I'm comfortable. I can still see plenty of bonnet...

I'm 'lanky' so the differential between front and back base height bends my knees. This allows me a comfortable position where I can correctly reach the steering wheel, which is pulled right back. Wrists on the top of the wheel whist fully pushing the brake pedal.

It's taken me 3 weeks and 800 miles to refine to the position I'm in now.

There are a few threads on this. This OP got it sorted once he found the tilt lever on the front http://www.f30post.com/forums/showth...highlight=Tilt

Currently I am pulling he height adjustment lever and floating my ass in the air! i.e making sure my body weight is off the seat. But it doesn't seems to really get anywhere. Is it easier to adjust the height of the seat when not sitting on it. So if I adjust the height of the seat before getting in the car?

I will give this tilt lever a go and see what happens. So I guess if I lift it up then the back of the front seat base will rise up.

Are you sure the seat is actually raising to the full height? May be worth trying the adjusters while not sat in the car with full weight on the seat. I know some have done this (with care) as they find it hard to 'assist' the seat to rise.

HighlandPete

Edit: You've posted while I was typing my reply.... I see you are trying without full weight on the seat. Certainly try it with moderate tilt.

I must say coming from my Golf it was a doddle adjusting the seat height and that is manual as well. This seems quite difficult.

As you say, let me pump the seat height lever before I sit in the car to see how high it will reach.
