Bluetooth to play all outgoing sound
In literally every other car I've used bluetooth with, it would output ALL sound coming from the phone, not just whatever music app you were using. Does anyone know how to make this work with this stereo?
Reason I ask is cause I like to turn on stuff like hulu or hbogo on long road trips, set the phone down, and just listen, but I've tried here with no luck on all fronts. I'm beginning to get very miffed with this stereo system. |

I believe you can only do it if you have tech pkg which includes enhanced blur tooth or you have it coded to be turned on if you car has the combox in the trunk.

Maybe there is a way to "convert" the non-tech cars into having some of the functionality of a tech car??? Might fix these and other issues...
Here are the options that I have been told about: 1- Tune 2Air 1000 - seems to work very well for Bluetooth and music but can't access other apps or Nav? 2 - Bimmertech - there's a thread on the F30 forum that says they can reprogram your non-tech package to a tech over the phone with your laptop - seems intriguing but you're also messing with factory settings. 3 - Kivic One - Allows you to mirror the iPhone in your idrive - apps and all. I don't know much more about the success or reviews of this one. Maybe these are better options...ideas ??

Using my android phone, I just figured out a way that has worked for me so far to play sound from hulu, hbo go, etc.... I connect my phone and start playing music through google play (the subscription service), then i stop the music on the phone and start playing the other media. It has not worked for me in any other series of steps.

I know on all of my phones, the application I was using had to be started AFTER the phone was paired to bluetooth in the car, the car also had to be set to External Audio/MyPhoneName, etc. The sound from the phone won't come through from Waze, for instance, if I had Waze started before I jumped in the car and connected the BT, in your case, perhaps making sure the app is closed fully. Also if I had Radio selected in the car, notifications won't come through. This may seem obvious, but the iPhone, as opposed to the Windows Phone I use now, would stream BT to the stereo even if I was in Radio mode... at least I think it did 'cause it was only after I switched phones that I started to look into this problem.
Not sure if it will help, but figured I'd throw my experience out there. |
