Black Chrome Exhaust Tips Fitted

After actually running out of things to clean on the car this weekend and with time to spare I decided to go for it and attempt to install the black exhaust tips I bought weeks ago.

Turns out it's very easy to do, although I did start by pulling and twisting at the original chrome covers, but this didn't seem to get me anywhere.

I simply held a piece of wood against the back of the exhaust trim and lightly tapped away with a hammer, the trim started moving along the exhaust and eventually I could just pull the trim off by hand.

Installing the new ones was just a reversal, push them on as far as you can, then move the wood to the face of the exhaust trim and tap away again to get it into place.

Probably even easier to do with one of those rubber mallets, either way don't hit it straight on with a metal hammer for obvious reasons.

I think they blend in nicely with the black diffuser, I'm going for the black and white look:

looks great! fitted mine the other day too. I sprayed a small amount of wax release inside the tips which made them go on a bit easier...
Are your diffuser and spoiler matt or gloss black? Did you fit the diffuser yourself?

Alloys are actually on the wish list! Have been looking at some black Lenso Alloys recently (keeping to 19's but a bit wider), still not too sure though.

Didn't fit the diffuser, dealer did all the M perf kit, spoiler and painting. I did ask them about fitting the exhaust trims for me, but they said I had to give them a weeks notice and it would take "at least" an hour!

Black alloys would look amazing! Are your performance pieces gloss?

No they are matt black, although have painted the bottom sections (ie side skirts and bottom of the front splitter)

When i fitted mine i just pulled and twisted the old ones off, then pushed the new ones up to the sharp prong bits, then hit them with my hand, went on pretty easy like that!

I got mine from bmminiparts.com for £35 each. Think they're £40 each from a dealer.

Looks great! I think I will get these until I can get round to changing the exhaust for the setup that the 335d should have always had!

Kelleners Sport seem to do a nice set of stainless steel exhausts for 330D and 335D, obviously I would only go for the left hand twin pipe setup! They still look good. The 335D exhaust seems to be the split and quad type.

Thanks. I have sketched a spline cage guide for an F32 ... may start on that, time allowing.

When I've looked at the Kelleners website before I think I only saw the square style tips, like Mercedes and Jag seem to like. Are the split single pipes on a 335i the same diameter, or larger, as each of the pipes on the 330d/335d? Just wondering if I will be able to re-use these if I do change to the split single pipes later?

What size is the 330d/335d pipes actually?

Your tints look darker. Were they dealer fitted or aftermarket?
