Sport Auto Gearbox Problem?
I have a 320d ed with the sport auto gearbox.
The car is a March 13 and has 9k on the clock. Over the last few weeks something is occurring that I have never felt before. When pulling up and sitting idle "say at traffic lights" I stay in drive and hold it on the foot brake. I sit there for 5-10 seconds and whilst still idle after the 5-10 sec period the gearbox seems to change down a gear and the car jolts very slightly. Has anyone come about this issue? or heard of it? Thanks |

I noticed today while sitting at lights on a steep hill, when I lifted my foot off the brake, the car started to roll backwards very slowly. I thought this was impossible as the gearbox is effectively in first.

If it does it often report it to the dealer, may be as simple as needing a software reflash/update. HighlandPete |

Volvos used to suffer badly from this. Often an ECU flash would correct it...

I have similar symptoms with my car, but mine also lurches forward when coming to a halt, it makes it nearly impossible to come to a stop smoothly. I have notice that the gear changes are not as "silky smooth" as BMW would have you believe. I think another trip to the dealer is in order.
