Thanks Paul!

I'm taking it easy with it for the first 1200 miles, but it's still a different 'animal' to the A6 Allroad I came from!

lovely looking car. show us some pics with the pano roof open inside. I'd have loved to tick that option but just too pricey for me.

Excellent spec, how you finding the sun roof? (No I look up and it's there jokes lol)

I was tempted by the tow bar, no requirement at moment, however I can see me using it for trailer at some point.

May pay the extra then.

The sunroof is superb. I really brightens the interior of the car. I was worried that the black seats and trim would look dreary inside. It does, but is brightened up a lot when the cover is opened... I'll try and get some picks from inside the car.

I got the towbar for trailer duties and for carrying bikes. I'm quite impressed with it as it's not visible at all when retracted, but a quick push of a button and it's there!

I'd agree on the sunroof - it was a definite on our spec list and no regrets. On tilt I'm perfectly happy with it open on the Motorway at legal limit. Fully open then there is no buffeting at all, but the noise is a bit high for my liking on the motorway, but fine when on a and b roads.

I haven't yet used my tow bar, but planning to buy a towbar bike carrier in April... which one do you use and would you recommend it?

A friend has the Thule Euroclassic G6 3 bike carrier, but we've gone for the Atera Strada DL with 4th bike option. This is superb as it's light, easy to carry, easy to fix, holds the bikes securely, locks the bikes to it, and it to the car, and can slide to tilt out the way to fully open the boot even with bike attached. Not a big issue with a touring that's able to open the glass hatch, but useful all the same.

Thule option

Strada DL 3

No affiliation to RoofBox, but they have good prices and seemed to give good advice.

I'd recommend the Atera over the Thule having tried both, mainly down to the ease of fitting of the Atera, and the tilt feature.

I think it'll be well over a grand, for sure, and I think someone did get a quote for it that was in the £1500 range... It's listed as a retrofittable accessory on bmw.co.uk, so I guess dealers should be able to give a quote fairly easily.

What swayed me to tick the box was the anecdotal evidence that cooling was also uprated with the factory option, which would be a sod to retrofit. I'm not sure if the retrofit would get that, or even if the option does change it at all...

Thanks, very helpful! Nothing beats practical experience for helping to decide.

Regarding your other post on the towbar fitted cars having extra cooling, has this been confirmed anywhere? Never heard that before, or read in any brochures or articles! Might be handy if I add more power too!
