iPhone 5 Y-Cable

Does anyone know if these are available? The dealer has ordered me one as he sold me the car on the basis that my phone would work without it (but no EBT), and they've messed up a bumper repair. But it's been on "back order" for 2 months now. Does one exist? Or is he messing me about?

Oh nice one thank you! I'll give him a ring now and play hell. Bit of a joke that!

Actually, it's not actually a "Y" cable is it. Will that one only work with EBT?

That will work no differently to an apple lightning cable for less than half the price, or a cheapy one for £2!

I had a 'cheapy' short cable for a couple of quid and it worked well for a couple of months bar the occasional warning notice then it gave up the ghost. I enquired at the dealer and was told there was a 2 month wait for a Y cable and £58 cost. Since that time I have used the Apple lightning cable supplied with the phone and it works perfectly with access to all functions.

And the y cable would not work, as you obviously have EBT or pro media!

I have several £2 lightning cables and they've all worked perfectly for over a year, just as you say the warning msg if i use one on pc.

I must admit I did not know that when I made the enquiry to purchase the Y cable. I'm glad I didn't now and for that matter I didn't even realise I had EBT!

I am without EBT and required the Music adapter to get mine to work (i have an iphone 4s) so i'd imagine you will need this:

http://www.bmw.co.uk/en_GB/topics/ow...MlM0RaM01GIn0=

and NOT this:

http://www.bmw.co.uk/en_GB/topics/ow...MlM0RaM01GIn0=

Notice the first one has a bigger junction box, this is what makes the playlist and track information display for a non-EBT setup. As you have an iphone 5 you will also require the little lightning adapter connector (to convert the older style iphone connector). I am not sure whether there is a specific lightning 'y' cable for non-EBT setup but i doubt it.

Dealer also told me that my car will do all the iphone stuff as standard! I forced him to get me that music adapter and it took him about 2-3 weeks to deliver the goods.

Sounds like a very similar experience to what I had. Very disappointed with the lack of knowledge. I'm hoping for the lightning one that he said exists, as I don't want to have to fork out for an adapter.

Its poor from BMW and poor from the dealers lack of knowledge. Hope there is a cable for it mate but if not don't fork out anything, get the dealer to buy it for you as you were ill informed, it won't break their bank considering the amount you've paid for the car and they'll want you to give them top marks in the sales survey after.
