Another 335d Tourer - thoughts before I do...

About to pull the trigger on:

335d xDrive M Sport Touring

Mineral Grey
Black Dekota
Piano Black with Pearl Chrome

Advanced Parking Package
Interior Comfort Package
M Sport Plus Package
Media Package - BMW Professional
Visibility Package

Adaptive M Sports Suspension
Model Designation Deletion (back and side)
Ext. mirrors - folding, auto dimming
Elec Fr Seats
Lumbar Support
Seat Heating Front
EBT
Speed Limit display
Heated Steering Wheel

They have added the Gold Pack which includes GAP, SuperGuard and Service Inclusive - seems expensive. Thinking to remove GAP and SuperGuard (get GAP elsewhere at half the cost) and add HUD - What are people’s thoughts?

Yes drop BMW gap, try alas for a quote.

From others with HUD it's peachy with the radar cruise, pro media/ nav

Apparently really adds to the experience.

Pretty sure it's their way of making so extra profit...

+1 on Ala gap
Ditch the supagard. It's junk and can do more harm than good if the dealer valets don't wash the car properly an then seal the paint with it. If you want paint protection then look up a pro detailer

Reasons NOT to buy BMW GAP:
  • Its expensive
  • I think its return to invoice so you WONT be able to buy the same car again in the event of a claim. Say your car list price is Ł50K - but you paid Ł40K with discount, they will only give you up to the amount that you paid ie Ł40K. So unless you get the same discount again when you come to buy your next car - you are stuffed.
  • In the event of a claim, I believe the money goes back to your dealer so you have to buy off them again.

I bought my GAP through car2cover and chose the Replacement Car option. In the event of a claim you get the full amount list price in order to replace your car (ie Ł50K in the above example). You get a cheque paid direct to you so you can buy whatever car you like from wherever you like.

Search for threads on here for GAP, its been discussed loads of times.

With regards the service pack, dont pay for it - ask them to throw it in for free as a "sweetener" to seal the deal.

Check out and read this.
http://www.f30post.com/forums/showth...&highlight=Gap

Regarding the service pack, winter wheels etc.

Get the deal squared away with car etc.

Then do the deal for service pack and if you want or feel up to it for winter wheels as well.

Service pack you should get for free, basically it's business for the dealer ship.

Winter wheels, you can get elsewhere and cheaper, again however it's repeat business for dealer ship.

If you do the above separate to car, then you still get your dicount on car and it's not mixed up with service pack.

HUD is great and would agree that you should spec this if you're looking at a close to fully loaded car!

All the other stuff is cheaper and better if arranged outside the BMW dealers.

On tourers with sun protection and black interiors I'm a bit of a broken record in advocating the panoramic sunroof... It's mighty dark in the back otherwise! The glass is much darker than it used to be, and on a tourer, unlike a saloon, the back window doesn't contribute much to letting light in.

It is, but if you've got an iPhone then can be handy to be able to charge it, as plenty struggle to get a full days use out of it, if they use internet a lot.

If course, a charging cable is a few quid!

Now I am unsure which to go for... Panoramic roof or HUD.

Anyone know which of these has the better future value?

I would 100% take the panoramic roof over the HUD.

Only my opinion, and I know people who have HUD love it, but I feel it is just a bit of a gimmick on a diesel estate car.

Like I said, just my opinion.

No idea about residuals but I would probably go for the sunroof over the HUD on a tourer. Hard to say for sure after just 3 months with the car but I suspect the novelty of the HUD will wear off whereas the sunroof will be appreciated a lot of times. And I'm thinking that before summer has even arrived!

Panoramic roof is a visible extra, people (incl future buyers) understand, see, can touch, HUD is an experience you can only appreciate when you drive a car which has it. If you never had one before you might see it as a gimmick.

I have both, roof and HUD, and after some two weeks with the HUD I really got used to it a lot.

If the piggy bank only allows one of the two, decide if you buy for yourself (HUD) or for better resale value, i.e. for others (roof).

Are you sure you need the adaptive suspension?

Very nice spec, doesn't sound like much was unticked!

Bet you are excited! Not sure how I will cope with the wait.
