Just ordered M235i, wheel question

Placed the order for it earlier last week. Alpine white, coral red, and 6MT! Can't wait for the delivery., theses coming weeks can't go by soon enough. Had a question though. What are the chances of my wheels for my current E90 3 series fitting the new 2er?
These are the specs for the wheels:

19x8.5 ET35mm (Front) & 19x9.5 ET35mm (Rear)

zero i would say.

Rears are et50 8" on the m235i so you are adding 20mm in offset and about 30mm in terms of wheel width. Total increase in rear would be about 40 mm more sticking out

What if the rear wheels were 8.5" as opposed to 9.5" with the same 35mm offset? Complete newb in buying aftermarket wheels, but i hate the current 18" so need to get some new 19"

Hmm not sure. 8.5m et44 would fit but another cm out I'm not 100% on. At a guess I'd say it would :s

Ps you are best using 1010wheels offset calculator and seeing. Put the standard offsets in then have a play with options and see how much they would stick out then go measure. It's what I'm going to do when my car arrives

I'm looking to buy some 19" BBS CH-Rs when I get the car. I wasn't sure about offsets or anything and all I could compare it to was the M135i as I assume they have a very similar chassis set up.

I emailed rimstyle.com and asked them if their figment guide for the M135i applies to the M235i and they said they are the same. So these are the wheels that would fit:

19 x 8" all round - ET40 - 225/35R19 tyres

19 x 8" front 19 x 9" rear - ET40 front ET44 rear (includes 3mm spacer) - 225/35R19 front tyres 255/30R19 rear tyres

19 x 8" front 19 x 9.5" rear - ET40 front ET35 rear - 225/35R19 front tyres 255/30R19 rear tyres

I don't know their policy on returns if I did indeed buy them and the simply didn't fit the car.

9.5 rear is pretty wide but will fit. These are 10 et50 rears on an m135i. So 9.5 should be good

I am aiming to get 9.5 rears so let me know how you get on

Ps think 9.5 et 35 will be too much. Half an inch less width than the photo but 15mm more from offset

My concern is that they may stick out too far and be illegal. What are the rule sin the UK for tyres sticking out from the arch?

I could go for the 9" ET44 but I'm not keen on having spacers on the rear wheels, especially as that's where they power goes.

Those options seemed to be the only ones available, at least for those wheels. I will see if any other makes of wheels have different offsets.

I have seen bbs ch on the m135i so ch's would be a good choice.

In terms of legality, tread outside the arch is illegal

Tirerack seem to have 19" wheels for the m235i including theBBS ... Although a bit confused recommending 19 x 8 all around for some of the wheels.

8 all round is a safe bet. Nothing wrong with a square setup

Wouldn't 255s in the back look weird on 8" rims? I can see the 225s in the front are just fine, but 255s ...

According to the websites I have been looking at if I order tyres with 8" offsets then the tyres I get are 225 all around.

It's only when I put tyres on 9" and 9.5" offset wheels that it allows me to order 255 on the rears

Probably because after market wheels tend to come with stretched tyres so it's easier to fit, ie tyres undersized

Wheels are so confusing :P

Once I get the car I'll take it into my local wheel dealer and see what their opinion is, might even be able to try a few different sizes on if possible.

That picture you put up Barnes of the M135i in grey with the dark wheels is nice, that's the sort of look I'm aiming for. Do you know where the original picture came from and who's it is? Would be good to ask what they have on their car.

I don't think so, stock is 245, not 255
