I saw mostly white..some black and gray.....standard stuff..not the EB..the real color made for the M235i...but not advertised by BMW

Wow! A virtual treasure trove of 2 Series goodness! If you search for the M235i on Autotrader there are lots of EB ones (7 of them). I also saw a 228i with Terra leather (loaded with MSport and even the rare HK audio)! First real photos of Terra I have seen too bad they are not so great dealer photos.

WTF why are so many of those 228i's with the STEPTRONIC trans!!!

Who would want that? From what I know it's slower, less efficient and no paddle shifters....

Hmm...I just went back and looked at some of the 228i photos on Autotrader and you are right no paddle shifters. Which is VERY odd since they are supposed to be standard across the board on ALL 228i/M235i automatic cars. In the most base "no-line" build on bmwusa.com the photo even shows paddles.

But even without the paddle shifters it won't change the acceleration or efficiency of the N20 engine. There are only 2 transmission choices: the 8-Speed auto and the 6-Speed manual. And you can always shift gears on the auto using the actual gear select/joystick thingy.

Actually three choices
1. Manual six speed which is what I just ordered
2.8 speed steptronic
3. 8 speed sport automatic with paddle shifters

The demo I drove had option 2 with no paddle shifters

I don't see an option for transmission on the BMWUSA build website...am I missing it? The only thing I notice is that the Sport/MSport/M235i all come with paddles. And the no-line 2s come without paddles. Perhaps it isn't an "option" you can choose...but just dependent on the line. Makes sense I guess.

So most of those 228i's on Autotrader must be no-line cars!
