Can you kindly decode the stuff which is underlined? As it may help others to read what you are asking and you may get better response.

I fitted the Focal IF-BMWS direct replacement speaker kit and it really improves the sound stage as I now have tweeters in the front of the car. The music surrounds you and the vocals feel like they're coming from the front and not solely from behind you. I bought the window surrounds from BMW with the tweeter housing because I wanted the install to look oem and not have tweeters sticking out. I didn't tell the wife to see if she noticed and she did, her words she said "the radio sounds really good now as if we are at a concert what have you done?" I said "oh nothing dear" otherwise she would twig I've been spending money again because they are not cheap. So overall very pleased.

Did you start with the Base audio system?

Assuming so, were the Focal's a straight swap?

For the OP; I've just added tweeters to my base system - huge improvement for around £70/£80 - have a look at the audio threads - there are stacks full of good stuff.

I'm not really fussed about amp'ing, the system is 'almost' there for what I need. Direct replacement does interest me, particularly the fronts if these can be sourced locally - I know the only (non amp'd) replacements seem to be the Bavarian Soundwerks stuff?

Yeah, im looking at the Alpine kit, because it does come with an amp which does make a difference, but now the Focal kit has me intrigued, a lot easier for me to install as well.

Alpine looks a tad more difficult.

I have the base speaker set up, the focal kit is a direct replacement for the front speakers but with added tweeters. They don't need an amp to run them and they sound great a real improvement. I bought them from dynamic sounds ltd, along with some dynamat xtreme that I applied around the front door cards. I watched the BAVSOUND you tube videos on how to install them and it's really easy. It took me approximately an hour for both speakers to be replaced and door cards back on.

Interesting stuff - any links to the kit? How plug and play is it then? (for some plug and play means modifying this and that, cutting here, modding there!)

Absolutely no modification at all they have been specifically designed to fit exactly where the original came out.

After a lot of research I went for the Focals and and amp. No regrets what so ever they are excellent and come with tweeters. Mine was done by Audiofile although not cheap the quality of work was outstanding and would definitely go back to them again.

I will also upgrade the rear speakers with the Focal IFBMW-C direct replacement rear 2 way speakers next month. These fit directly into the rear doors without any modifications too.

yes and no, yes if you have the BMW standard tweeters in position already, no if you don't as you will need to drill the window surround / sail to fit the Focal tweeter pod. Not a big job though and Focal provide a template.

How does this BMW-IF kit compare to the Focal 100KRS kit ? Understand the 100KRS is just the mid, tweeter and Xover, no cables or accessories but is the sound quality the same ? The 100KRS can be had for £250 and £269 for the BMW-IF. If the sound is as good then the IF kit looks good VFM.

Is your car an E90? I believe they are the same as the front hopefully someone can confirm. I have an E91 and the rear door speakers are the same size as the fronts.
