So I was wrong...CIC retrofit is definitely worth it!!
Been reading about CIC retrofits for a while, wasn't really bothered, after all I hardly use the satnav and I bought the car to drive it not to play with the onboard computer, why do I want to spend £700-800 on it
Picked up a CIC to CCC kit off the forum a while ago, haven't had time to fit it, was booked in to have a well known forum member fit and code it this weekend but had to spend £££ on a water/fuel pump so that put a stop on my modding fund. Today had 2 hrs free in the afternoon, looked at the box of CIC stuff sat in my study and thought why not have a go So I've gone from this... To this... Just need to finish it with some coding, though bizarrely the AUX in already works, and nearly all the other functions too...just bluetooth...oh and map shows wrong GPS position I have to say am very very surprised by how much faster the CIC kit is compared to the CCC stuff. Its like going from using iOS7 on a iPhone 4 to a iPhone 5S. At the end of the day its still only a satnav/computer but its just a much nicer experience.... So in summary, for anyone contemplating doing this its definitely worth it...but I would recommend getting one of the guys from the forum to do it for you..unless you want your hands covered in scratches, and confuse your self with trying to understand BMW coding language . |

One big difference I hadn't expected with the upgrade is much better sound coming from the speakers. I've got the Alpina speaker/amp upgrade fitted and to be honest whilst it's better than the base system I wasn't that impressed. But post CIC upgrade there is much more base and a BIG improvement in overall sound The CIC unit I got already has 7 digit postcode searching and going through the options looks like it's all ready for the combox too....must stop spending money on this car |

Managed to sort out all the coding tonight...Took longer than I thought because I had the OBD security update applied previously I had to update the SP-daten file on my computer to get NCS expert to work properly.
But with a bit of patience I have Bluetooth active once again.... ...and Aux in still working Only problem now is that am very tempted to complete the upgrade by getting a com box retrofit to get BMW apps and Bluetooth audio etc.. |

BMW apps may be nice to have but I seldom use them & audio is much better & more convenient through the USB, I'd rather spend the money on a rear camera as in Sam's recent thread

Good job mate!!!
Maybe one day i will get mine sorted. But it is def not a priority But... as it has a more powerful amp... it should make the existing logic 7 system sound better right? |

Not sure about Logic 7, but has made my Alpine upgrade kit much better. Its definitely a mod worth doing....but thats it for me now in regards to mods for the car, have now truly blown my original modding budget I set 2 years ago |
