Sourcing a JB4 harness

Hi All

I managed to pick up a JB4 without harness recently for a good price and now need to source a harness. Initially I thought it would be easy enough to find one but I'm struggling.

It's just a bunch of wires and connectors isn't it? Has anyone tried to make their own?

I also believe there are two types? A & B?

The jb4 harness is the expensive part of the kit the actual jb4 isnt even that expensive. I think you've made a boo boo doing that. Your going tonhave to order a jb4 harness from burger tuning in america and have it shipped to you mate.

+1 sounds like someone upgraded to a newer chip and sold you their old one. It is almost impossible to make the harness as there is so much wiring/crimping to do and you need the female/male harnesses from Tyco.

Gah.

I'm reluctant to pay a fortune for what is basically just a load of copper and plastic. Seems I might not have any choice though.

UMMMMMMMM it looks like you have a PRELCI, meaning you have an N54, so its not harness A vs Harness B at all.
do you even know what type of JB4 you bought?
an N54 chip is different from an N55, and the harnesses are completly different (an N55 A vs B is just 1 of 5 sensor pass throughts being different, where an N54 harness goes directly into the DME subconnectors NOT any sensors)
this probably all means nothing to you.

Just curious, what was the "good price"
a G5 upgrade is $150 directly from burger, a harness upgrade i believe is $175+$120 core charge since you arent sending in a Pinout core, the older G4 chips go for $50 used (these are up for sale from people who upgraded to G5), so if you paid anything more than $100 for the G4 chip or $150 for a G5 chip.....then you did pretty bad.
if you bought a N55 JB4, well then you bought something that is no use to you
a stage 2 N55 box is $175 brand new for someone upgrading from stage 1, so you could resell it for prob $125 to someone with stage 1 n55.
if you bought Stage 1 N55 box.....well that is worthless and throw it out

if you have N54 i have a buddy who can make you a Pinout harness, but considering you dont seem to know alot about this type of stuff, a pinout harness prob will be difficult for you to install

I'm not as stupid as you seem to think. I bought an N54 JB4 as I know my car is an N54.

I paid £20 and it's a G4.

I took a gamble. I knew there'd be a chance I'd be wasting my money. But it's 'only' £20.

So you have a buddy who can make a harness? I'm pretty confident I'd be able to install it. Is he a member on here?

Why should I be familiar with the JB4 marketplace? What's wrong with not knowing? I already said, I took a gamble. If it pays off, great. If it doesn't, oh well.

£20 is $33 so by your previous post I got a good deal, yes?

I'd appreciate if you could help, despite the bickering

yea its an ok deal.
btw my math was wrong its (USD) 175 for a hanress upgrade from Pinout to PNP on the webside but there is a $120 core charge as you send then your pinout, but you dont have any so its about $285 for a PNP harness straight up.
they wont sell just a pinout anymore

That's like saying a car is worthless without an engine. Or a PC is worthless without a CPU.
