Auto Insurance
First, Yes I've searched for insurance and I couldn't find anything.
Alright, so I'm 22 and I've been under my parents insurance until now. It was only $3500 a year for 4 car's insured for all of us. Mercedes S550, Lexus RX350, Acura RL and an Infiniti G35 coupe. I got kicked out of their insurance because I have some bad driving records. I got some quotes for my 335i coupe and it is $6,000 a year. I didn't know that it would be that high with 1 single driver and a single car. Does anybody else pay this much? Insurance is Insane, it's like another car payment Jesus.

yeah. I might not pick up my 335i coupe. That is absurd. My insurance is High because I got a DUI last year. (YES, I regret driving under the influence and yes I will never do it again). This really sucks, I was really looking forward to driving this car. They said my Insurance will go back down to normal in 2 years when the DUI clears out.

I seriously might not drive. Or get a cheap car with cheaper insurance. I was thinking about just paying the 3 grand every 6 months. But, that's literally throwing out money.

Well its high for multiple reasons
1.dui 2.youre young 3 1 car, 1 driver 4 expensive car(esp bmw) I pay more for a 45k bmw than a 60k e350, its absurd. I pay about 2760 a year for both cars. Heres what you gotta do if you wanna decent insurance. Get your mom or your dad who has a good driving record on a separate policy. Then put your parent as the primary driver on the bmw and put a second car(beater old car preferably) and put youreself as the primary on that. That way youll save some cash

Is it possible for my mom to be in 2 insurance policies? She does not want to leave her own because their in a special thing and they only pay 1500 a year for 4 cars.

Maybe get an e90 instead? Maybe a sedan will lower your premium compared to an e92. or is that a myth. 6k a year is just too much unless you're wealthy and ballin. You can also try to cut down on the premium by telling the insurance company that you'll be driving the car only on weekends?

yes your mom can be on another policy as long as the second car your insure is not on any other policy, the e90 wont be much cheaper and you premium wont be lower if you tell them that youre only driving on the weekend if thats the only car on the premium. Theyre not dumb.

I am 23 and I pay $570/6 months on my 328i with State Farm if that matters. Insurance is not so much based on the price of the vehicle, as it is the repair cost of a vehicle, location of the vehicle (city you live in), # of general claims against that type of vehicle overall, theft probability, etc. That is how it was explained to me by an insurance agent. He told me that is why I am paying a little less for my bimmer than I was for my acura.

In your case, no matter what car your switching to.
Your driving record will dominate the cost of car insurance.

Holy smokes, that's a lot of money for insurance! That would be a huge deterrent for me.
However the fact that you have a DUI on your record is probably the major contributor. Being 22 does have some affect on insurance but if your record was clean, it would probably not be a huge factor. When I was in my early 20's I had a sports car (MR2!), and my rates were actually quite reasonable. I remember when I turned 30 my insurance dropped, but the downside of that was well....I had to turn 30. Another factor that drops your rates is if you were married. Obviously, I wouldn't do this just for a better premium. Boy, THAT would be a romantic proposal...

Dude when insurance rates are that high, theyre trying to tell you something... Your gonna have to bite the bullet and pay it till time runs it's course...(as long as you keep it clean) Just call all companies that offer insurance and go for the most affordable... GL man

Yeah, It's because of my age and the DUI. After 2 years the DUI comes off my insurance record and I can also go back into my families insurance policy. It sucks really bad that my insurance is going to be that high for the next 2 years. I'm going to have to suck it up and pay it or just not drive at all. DO NOT DRINK AND DRIVE GUYS. YOU CAN NOT AFFORD IT. Especially if your young.
