OE audio aftermarket amp + subs or just change hu?

I have noticed in scouring the threads and post that there are few custom audio set ups. Is this because the E9x has so many limitations for this?

I would like blue tooth, nav and to be able to have good quality outputs to feed an amp and I can find very little to support this plan. I have a directed 1100d5 amp and 2 x 12s that I would like to fit to my new car. I also want to add a comp system up front. I am in no way an audio file, but have always sought to improve over OE.

I would also like clarification on whether or not the OE head needs to remain installed if choosing an aftermarket HU?

Any advice?

The HU is linked into the CANBUS network so if you remove it, IIRC you have to code it out.

I've got the basic HU with iDrive, then a Cleansweep, amp, subs and comonent speakers. Night and day difference. If you keep the HU though, you'll either have to have the HU recoded to HiFi or use a DSP of some sort.

Thanks Parapaul , just gettin my head round it. My car will have the pro hu and basic set up. With a clean sweep, is it essential to get the "Hi-Fi" re-code?

No, the Cleansweep outputs a flat signal, so the recode isn't necessary.
