OEM Z4/M Strut Tower Brace @ Tischer...

Hey guys, I talked to Evan at Tischer (one of our sponsors) about possibly doing a group buy for the OEM Strut Tower Brace, instead he decided to just put it up as one of their specials for the Z series allowing everyone to purchase it when they are ready with no minimum number for a group buy... European Car Magazine installed it on their Project Z4 M Coupe in the Sept. 2007 Issue and they had nothing but praise for it.
http://www.mileoneparts.com/partloca...egoryID=123043

List: $455.00
Tischer Special: $330.00 + FREE Shipping!
That's a 28% savings.

I just wanted to give everyone a heads up!
Take care guys.

Thanks for the tip, bought one as my first M add-on. Aside from the stubby antenna... next up is the under-seat first aid box

for M54 engines... E46 bars fit with "SLIGHT" modification and also less than 1/10th of the price of the OEM bar. $24 shipped

Eh? What modification is necessary? I would be down for a $26 strut bar in a heart beat. After all, its mostly a dress-up part.

At Tischer all I see is a $260 part: http://www.mileoneparts.com/partloca...catalogid=4462

"Dress up part"?!?!

Not in THIS car... I have the Strong Strut tower bar with reinforced firewall braces and the difference in steering responsiveness and handling is truely night and day difference.

It reduces a LOT of flex in the front of the car.

Now get a tower bar and be prepared to eat your words.

Wonder if this is still true for the coupes with double the intrinsic chassis stiffness....

Nope, not true. I just fitted the OE STB and I have felt NO noticeable difference during daily driving (including spirited jaunts). Maybe noticeable on the track, though.

Here's my DIY on the subject.

Agree. If a strut bar is vastly improving handling, there are bigger issues with the car. (Like in the Z3, where a strong strut set really plants it). I've put strut bars on my last 2 cars and any performance effect was placebo. I would call it "fine tuning" at best. They do look good tho, and there's value in that.

Still interested in a link to this supposed cheap stut bar tho!

It's a roadster... and the coupe is what, 40% stiffer?

There's a big difference in torsional rigidity between the two models, and the STB and FWB make a noticeable difference in handling IMO.

To be exact:

torsional stiffness:
Mcoupe = 32,000Nm/deg
Mroady = 14,500Nm/deg

I emailed them on Feb 29, regarding shipping costs to Canada. They said they are not shipping international orders at this time?
