Newie 335i owner intro.......oh and failed injectors...:(
Quick hello to one and all on the forum! I had many BMWs in past, a few M3s, M5, X5 and now after SWMBO decided our main car is to be used by her on daily basis she left me with our second car which was a C220 CDI Coupe!! I couldn't face driving that little car around so I decided to buy something less girlie with a enough go to amuse me so went for a 335i E92 Space Grey... Car only had 38k miles and one owner so is in mint condition. It has black/grey leather interior, most options except sun roof and premium sound system. I already bought 19" black CSL rims, high gloss shadow trims, M3 Boot spoiler, M3 Side Skirts, Aero Front Lip, Gloss Black performance grills, Gloss black 335i badge, and plan to add M3 Gloss black mirrors & Alpine sound system from BMW with L7 subs, and possible tune possibly down the line....
Now the bad part.... I bought the car, I put BMW extended warranty on it and they said its not covered for 30 days, no problem I thought. 4 days later when I kicked it down on the M25 I got engine management light and misfiring with an exhaust pipe full of fuel..... So now its at a specialist awaiting all 3 injectors on bank one apparently to put it right, gutted.... Cant wait to get it back....!!!!! Here are pics of it as it is now....will post pics when its 'dressed' in couple weeks... |

Welcome to the forums, that sucks!
Get them to check the pre cat lambda sensor while they have it apart.

Welcome!
At the tune of £170+VAT an injector, I would have tried a lot of other things or waited for your extended warranty to kick in unless someone else is paying for this. If you just bought it, couldn't you go back to where you bought it from or was it a private seller? I have just been through the same recently myself and unfortunately the latest injectors are not compatible with the old, so you have to buy a set per bank. Luckily the parts manager sold them to me a cost to them, so I saved quite a bit. Changing them myself also helped keep the costs down.

Yes I know, irritating in the extreme, and yes I was very tempted to leave it until next month but I thought that might just give me more headaches with no car for a month and then if they denied it as can somehow see it failed in January I would be even worse off.....So decided to be an honest customer and eat the injectors cost......Mind you the way I drive my cars I will be getting back more than the warranty cost over 12 months....
Bought it privately so no going back either... |

EDIT: JEBUS! The new 13538616079 injectors have put the price of injectors back to what they were when the car was new (£212!)! I got a single injector done by BMW about 6 months ago - i assume this was one of the old ones? How long has the 079 injector been around? Last edited by Subzero2003; 01-22-2014 at 09:06 AM.. |

P.s. depending on mileage you could advertise your good injectors you took out for say 50 to recoup some cost. |

What year is your car?
My car, and many others, were subject to a recall a while back. BMW didn't call it a recall though. However I had 3 injectors changed free of charge. Others on here did too. |

The good injectors I pulled probably got 30K+ on them, so I might just hang on to them as spares. They could come in handy if any of my bank 2 injectors starts to act up.
