LED Tail Lights

For the e46 series the LED Tails came out in 2003.5. Anyone know if/when the LED tails will come out for the e92/e93 maybe e90?

I guess never, IMO this light with this 3 stripes look 10x better than LED...I always missed that when they have abandoned that on the first E60 series after previous facelifter 5er, it looked ugly and old, now again they have this stripes, only with LED on the ends...

They won't factor in LED's? LED's seem more advanced for tail lights... seems weird to go in reverse from LED's on the e46 coupes to non-LED's...

If you read the 08 brochure on page 10/11 it mentions the tailights as being horizontal-conducting rods with LED technology. Is that a mistake?

I'm making my own. It's not too tough. I have the right bulb figured out, I just need to order more. May get to it this weekend.

No... The strips that are on the taillight when you have your headlights on are LED tech. But, Brakelights and turn signals are not, I wish they were. I guessing for the 2009 model they will make it all LED, they always have nice upgrades couple years after a new bodystyle is produced.

The rods are LED. The turn signals and brake lights are not. Personally, I'd much rather have the rod LEDs (like the current e90 and e92) than the individual dot LEDs (like the late model e46).

I have always loved the look of the 6er at night. They probably didn't introduce full LED's on the new 3 series, so they would have something to update to make it look more visually appealing in a mid model update. However...something to note, when they did the 2008 5 series refresh, all they did was introduce LED amber turn signals in the rear...not full LED brakelights.

I wish I were in BMW marketing. Since some are so desparate for LED tails, that they would dismantle the lamps on a 50K car and jerry-rig with their own parts, to compensate for the currency hit we're taking on the weak US dollar....

add them as a $1200 option. Coolness has no price ceiling. That would make up for about 1/4 of our currency losses when compared to 11 mos. ago.

It's really not tough. The bulb holder on the tails just pops out. You can insert a 30mm 24-LED cluster for the original lamp. Looks cool. Just need to install the resistor packs, which kinda sucks.

It seems like all carmakers are slapping on LED taillights these days — like the Toyota RAV4 and GMC Acadia. For some reason BMW doesn't seem to be as keen, perhaps a bit odd for a luxury carmaker. Oh well, I like the slick-looking LED bars.

Yeah, and that's all you have to do as well when your central a/c konks out for the first time (no fan, no compressor, humming sound). Cost me $14 instead of the $385 the a/c man wanted. But I kid you not, you can cut the power to your house and still get shocked sometimes fatally for about 2 days if you don't discharge the capacitor properly prior to replacement. My point is it's amazing to what lengths people will go to do what they think is cool. Like the guy that burnt out his adaptive xenon and BMWNA would not cover it under warranty as a result. Nice phat what $1500+ bill in an effort to cool out his headlamps.

It would be nice if the aftermarket were to work on making the e90 and e92 taillights look like the 6 series.
