Ass handed by a 991 Turbo (non S)

Got out of work early today, so grabbed some coffee and headed home. As I approached the freeway onramp, I saw a gorgeous Silver 991 Turbo with temp plates entering the freeway. I hadn't known they were released in the states, so I got a bit excited. The car is wide as hell from the back, it's got big hips and fat tires! We turned onto the freeway at the same time, and as I pulled to the left lane to overtake, I reached his door before he TOOK OFF. I was doing 70 at this point, he had to be doing 90-100+ a mere 3 seconds after I gun it. I let off at around 105 and he was already way ahead of traffic. I caught up to give a thumbs up, and the owner seemed to have a chuckle at what just happened but returned a thumbs up. M5 did a valiant job, that was the first time someone made me look like a chump lol. Anyone have an encounter with the new 991 TT? The Turbo S would have left me for dead. If they weren't charging an arm and a leg for them I'd highly consider owning one. What a weapon.

Not surprised I lost, just surprised by how bad. I promised myself an exhaust before new years, a tune will be likely follow. And no boots, it's never fun losing...

+1 it's all in good fun as long as you knew the out come before you started =) m5 is no match for 997 turbo s. Every time I gunned it in the 997 I still got the shakes(2 years old) . I love my m5 but I would not run it and expect a win with a 997 turbo or a 991 turbo it's not a fair race even with a tuned and tricked out m5.

Good news is my M5 is staying and the 997tts is out of the stable as of two weeks ago. So take that dark siders !

I agree with you on the price of the 991tts because they want giraffe money for it !

Here is a run between a 997 Turbo S and a F12 M6 (supposedly with the "press tune" @ 620hp)

Here is the Manhart Racing M6 (700+hp) vs the same 997 Turbo S:

So a tune is definitely needed to keep up with a 991 Turbo

Will always be a hard race same HP's, and 1k less on the weight two different cars. My 991S is no turbo at 400 HP, but it never loses traction on a lanuch which he key to getting out of the gate.

Hahahaha! Yeah, that is not a match-up. A buddy of mine said his friend's Turbo (non-S) ran a 2.8 0-60. Imagine the S! Porsche notoriously overstates the speed of their cars. They will say the Turbo S runs 3.1.

The TTS is a true super car. See below...

Good god. I didn't realize these Porsche turbos were *that* fast. Amazing.

Good to see that Gustav is still out there going at it! Yeah, tune and then some. That 991 Turbo is a fast car.

The one in the video was an S. Only about .2 diff in the non-S. Likely still would have nosed out the McClaren.

I had fun alright! And the backside of the 991tt at speed sure is a pretty sight!

That put things into perspective. I think the 991 Turbo will be marginally faster than a 997, but faster nonetheless. That 997 destroyed the M6!! Just shows how limited our traction is.

Power to weight prevails again. Same reason we get eaten up by 458 Italias. This motor can shrug off the weight of the M5 very effectively though, just ask the ZL1 I smashed a few weeks ago.

Wow. That Porsche is too fast for its own good. Amazing!

Exactly! Everytime I'm on the freeway, I know that I am faster than 90% of the people around me, but that Porsche put me in my place very fast. I have been eyeing an Eisenmann Race, I'm gonna pull the trigger tonight or tomorrow. Maybe that gap will shorten.

Gustav has a 997 Turbo, and he was able to walk an M6. I can only imagine a 991 TT(S)

McLaren is top end warrior though, after 80 the McLaren would claw its way forward. The 12C is a car that I would have no choice but to let pass lol.

Wow, nice! How does the Porsche compare to the M3? I probably know the answer since my M5 destroys my M3 in a straight line. Your TT S must obliterate it.
