How to remove 3M residue from splitter

I want to reinstall the splitters, I got the splitters taken off from the bumper, and want to retape this whole thing.

The original 3M tape that comes with the spitter is no good, but removing the tape and its residue is absolutely a pain.

I try to peel this thing off by hand, but it only comes off less than 1/10 of an inch at a time.

What is the best way to get this thing off?

That's the hard part....you're going to have to do it 1/10 at a time....either with your finger nail or with a razor blade.

Call up some friends and throw a "1/10 at a time" party

i have to add that after peeling one tiny spot at a time, there is also some heavy residue/gum remaining, n i have to rub the hell of it to get that spot clean..

i don't want a 1/10 of an inch peeling party and another 1/10 of an inch rubbing party ..

I did this with some old side skirts (from my e46) and for my trunk lip spoiler (had to reinstall it properly). That tiny bit that is left after peeling...I just left that there and put a new layer of 3M over it. Just be sure to get 90% of it off so that it sits flush...

Use a hair dryer to heat up the splitters and slowly remove it, the glue will become less resistance this way. Use Goo Gone to remove any residue that is left behind.

I agree with the Blow dryer. I have had the 3M aftermath several times, and if you heat it up enough, you can literally roll it off in one piece!

I use a product called "Goof-Off" available at most hardware stores in small cans. Apply it with a soft cloth and just gentle rubbing will remove most adhesives without disturbing the clear coat. Afterwards, let it air dry completely and apply a good wax such as Zaino Bros. over the area you cleared.

As always, try it on an unseen surface first to be certain (under the hood?). I have used it for years on some very expensive vehicles with 100% success.
