Engine Replacement and BMW Customer Relations

Looking for advice!

- Bought my 4th BMW in May . . . 2011 335 with 14,000 miles and has been in the shop a total of 7 weeks for various issues from i-drive randomly restarting and DSC issues to a full engine replacement.

I contacted BMW Customer Relations and they asked me "what would you like us to do?" Obviously caught off guard I hadn't really thought about it. Has anyone been through this. What should I ask for, replacement vehicle, extended warranty an M3?? Suggestions? What would or have you asked for?

I'd say two months of car payment (if making payment) as well as an extended warranty.

At the very least get an extended warranty from them.

I like that idea but am nervous that I'm going to continue down the same path with it. They still can't figure out the idrive issues!

I ... Don't think they'll give you a car, or rather an M3. Go for the warranty. Maybe some performance parts (or a hefty discount); PE, BBK, PPK .. All of the above?

If they won't go above and beyond, maybe ask for the price you paid back for this car to put towards a new(er) car?

The m3 was joke . . . That would definitely be first choice!

Hefty discount on performance parts is a great idea. Also heard from a friend that they would probably buy the car back and subsidize a new one or lease. I find that hard to believe though.

With that many issues, see if they will give you the price you paid towards another.

Or do the two months of payments and an extended warranty if you wanna keep the car.

New 335 and if some small difference pay it and enjoy...
I for one would have a total loss of confidence in the car at this point...

This would be top choice so far if they agree to something like that. I think I have lost confidence in the car but being a 2011 with only 20,000 miles and only a few thousand on the engine . . . Don't know how much they would give me towards a new one but guessing im going to have to come out of pocket quite a bit which was the whole reason I bought this one used.

Spoke with service rep today and said that if I wanted to look into getting a car that I would have to go work with local dealer and they can work with BMW Customer relations to work out a deal. Seems crazy. So I asked if they would give me 2 months payment and offer an extended vehicle warranty and matintenence plan. Will hear back in 3-5 business days.

Was this CPO? They should buy back that car, refunding the full purchase price, and find you a comparable vehicle. If you find something similar that's slightly more expensive, they should eat the difference. Two months car payment and extended warranty is a joke, my friend. Your time has a price. You don't want to keep this lemon anyway.

It was not a CPO someone traded in on A Corvette so I purchased from a Chevy dealer. They said that hurts the loyalty allowance they could give me?!?! I have purchased 2 other BMW's from the dealer and loyalty? If I buy a BMW from a Chevy dealer that's not being loyal? You are right I shouldn't keep this lemon i am going to try for them to buy back. They still have not figured out what is wrong with the idrive and I'm not convinced on its future reliability at this point.
