My car came from BMW STEP Orlando...

This past weekend I purchased a 2011 335i Msport (Le Mans Blue, beige, 6 speed, with iDrive) from a used car dealer in upstate New York. The car only had 1000 miles on it when I bought it. Based on my research before the purchase, I knew it had been owned by BMW for 3 years after being imported in May of 2010. The dealer informed me that they had bought it at auction from BMW and that the car had been used for training, a program called "BMW STEP" in Orlando, FL. I ended up buying the car (it's fantastic!).

Now that I have the car home, my question for the BMW community, maybe even any students/graduates of STEP in Orlando over the last 3 years...what exactly did my car go through? I can only assume it was taken apart and put back together quite a bit as the students learned their stuff?

After 3 years your car is probably looser than a retired prostitute.

I bet you got a great deal on it!!

So when I was looking for 335i, I visited a dealership in GA, and they had awesome deals on F30 335i which I almost ended up buying. One thing that stopped me was that it was a "BMW performance car" from South Carolina performance center, which basically means it had 13,000 hard driven track miles, which to me is equivalent to 75,000 miles on the road.
Car is fully loaded, even heads up display, however it had few paint scuffs, front bumper scratch through the paint deep into plastic. Rear quarter panel was scratched and had to be repainted. Sales man said it will resprayed and will look like new on delivery.
This is very unexpected from a dealer selling 2013 model with 13k on the clock.
Oh and by the way I heard that all of the BMW performance cars are all red, just like the one I looked at the dealership!!
Watch out! Best of luck to everyone!!

Sounds like a great car, congrats.

I'm sure you'll be fine but man would it bug me knowing some kids were wrenching on it and "testing" their fixes.

Who cares, you still have warranty. Also, I doubt the instructors would let the kids fuck it up before it left.

That's what I figure. I'm enjoying the car so much I'm not worried too bad!
