Dealer Prep of New Car
NE1 have an idea of what dealers generally do cosmetically when prepping a new car before delivery? I have a new BMW on order (not being bought from stock), so I have the opportunity to limit, if that's the word, the damage the dealer will do to the paint. I believe the dealer will have to remove some white plastic protective panels or film, and that may involve using some adhesive cleaners. If it is something I could do myself using something like 3M Adhesive Remover, that would be fine. Beyond that I'd like them to do as little as possible; definitely no use of power buffers.

I am not sure how much control you can have over the PDI process.
I took my new F31 with about 12km (7 miles or so) straight to my detailer for clear bra/nano-coating etc. and he said the dealer left a huge mess of products on the car but it didn't look like they had buffed it or anything. |

You might want to tell the dealer not to cosmetically prep the car, and take it to a detailer with all the plastics on. Then have them do a full prep and opti-coat.

Dave Saunders at Street Dreams Detail in San Diego. He can perform the new car prep for you. Tell him Phil sent you. |

Request the dealer not wash your car when it arrives. I did with mine. I've read that another member requested to leave the plastic protective sheets on the car too. Be sure to give your CA gentle reminders about your request, sometimes they may forget.
