Rear ended - driver restraint and passenger restraint light on?

So the car got a rear ended, seems mostly cosmetic but now there are 2 lights on in the idrive/dash:

Says roughly this:

Driver and passenger restraint malfunction, fault in airbag, belt tensioner, or belt force limiter.

Hit was not hard enough for airbags to go off, so what are these warning lights? Is it just a precaution to get things checked out? Or did something malfunction?

The belt tensioners probably deployed. You should get it checked out and repaired, no sense screwing around with safety systems. Good luck.
