From an E92 to a Jeep Wrangler? How crazy am I?

Hey guys, I've had my car for exactly 2.5 years now. Spent thousands on my car modding it tastefully with BMW Performance parts and other reputable brands. I got it exactly to where I wanted.

Problem is I have a work vehicle and a pretty busy life making it almost impossible to drive and enjoy. I've literally only put 6,000 miles on the car, which is insane. Meanwhile I have 140,000 miles on my work vehicle in 5 years. I guess at the same time too since I have my childhood dream modded to my point of view of perfection I do avoid taking it to questionable areas at times, but that's still a rare occurrence.

Here's the point of all this. I've recently become enamored with the Jeep Wrangler. Always thought it was a cool car, but after driving my buddie's 2014 Wrangler 6MT I fell in love and can't get it out of my mind. I never thought I'd be attracted to anything other than BMW.

How crazy is it that I would trade in my great condition, low mileage, well modded car for it? Buying a second car and having 2 payments is out of the question, although if my car was paid off I'd buy it as a second car, but that's not the case.

Anyone else thought about such a crazy move? Did you go through with it? Regret it?

No, not crazy. I'm selling mine for a similar reason, I just don't get to drive it enough.

No one can tell you what to get, they can give you suggestions, but at the end of the day this right here says it all

No you're not loco. I never thought I'd like 'Murican cars (hideous designs) but good god I'd give my left kidney for a new CTS Vsport. That new Grand Cherokee doesn't look all that bad either!

If its the 4door one and you get bumpers and such colored match with a 4" lift and some 33s. I say go for it.

Id be all over one if they could just get 26+ MPG on freeway. Amazes me they don't get better mileage.

I won't lie I've considered a jeep before along with a range rover sport.

I wanted the jeep because my friend had one that he modded the hell out of and it and taking it off road was way more fun than driving fast.

The only problem was, at least with the huge tires he had, I found myself literally flooring it on the highway just to keep up with traffic. And I took it on a 30 mile trip once and it drank nearly 3/8 of a tank that quickly.

I didn't want to be at the gas pump every single day

I think it looks sick. If you feel like you don't drive your BMW enough to justify having it in the garage, then do it. I like the Jeep.

Yeah mine gave me 11 from the start... eventually got up to 14 but never to 16 like the EPA says. Germans know how to make a sports car, hands down. If you get joy however from driving over snow mounds and through forests preserves and being really high off the ground and feeling like your the king of the road, Jeep takes the cake. I really wish I could have both but I'm happy to have had each. Both are truly good cars depending on what your looking for.

"It's a Jeep thing"

not crazy at all. if you are a mod bug, then there is no other aftermarket like the jeep aftermarket!

I had an xj Cherokee, and had upwards of 25g in mods sunk into that thing...

needless to say, it went almost anywhere. used to go wheeling with caged 'yota's and would piss 'em all off because i usually wasn't the guy not making it and I was always kicking back in my air conditioned cabin with my 14 speaker stereo cranked! lol

yes, I miss it. but the thing would go up on three wheels in a 20mph corner.

I test drove one, and while I love the looks and modding ability I didn't enjoy the ride for every day commutes. I'm kinda like you in that if I could have a second car right now I'd get it for sure.

I like how that one is done, but those tires are to "street" for me.
Wheels need to kick out some, it needs a small lift and some bigger tires. Then that white one would be top notch

Believe it or not, I don't like crazy tricked out, lifted, big wheel ones. I kind of like the tame look of the Sport S. The 4 door to me is kind of ugly.

I agree, I was really looking at getting an everyday vehicle so I need it to be able to a little bit of everything. Enjoying my 335 like I couldn't imagine though

+Eleventy Billion

I've had my fair share of cars, but as long as I can swing it, I go for it! Budgets, savings goals, etc, all come in to play of course.

Crazy is building the car of your dreams and only putting 6,000 miles on it. Cars are meant to be driven. It's BMW 328xi not a Bugatti!

Will you regret selling your dream car for much less money than "you" believe it is worth?
This will be true especially if you trade it on your new vehicle.

Now if you are wanting to start off-roading, then the jeep makes perfect sense.
But if your going to be driving on the street very much you will hate it. One of the worse street vehicles made. They are slow, noisy, don't handle well at all, horrible MPG's, and minimal seating and storage space.
The Wrangler is good for one thing and one thing only, OFF-Roading!

THAT IS INSANE IN THE MAIN BRAIN! Since you're already half way through with your e92 payments...why not just stick through then buy a jeep after. two cars are so different that when you get one you're going to miss the other one.

and here is the million-dollar question:

WHEN IS THE PART-OUT SALE?
