If its comfort access (i need a back pick to tell you) it would be on the top of the back, if it isnt comfort access you cant open it... and it should charge in the ignition.

I have comfort access and i changed the battery when it started acting weird- so you can open them. also if its CA u really wouldn't use it to put in the ignition as that would defeat the purpose of keeping in your pocket or bag.

Would you rather have it not working and in your pocket? or have it working and charging in ignition for once in your life?

not quite sure i understand what your getting at because it works fine without it in the ignition and from my understanding is one of the major 'conveniences' of having CA. the fact that it charges it is cool- i didnt know that. but the batteries last quite a long time so if i have to change them every couple years its ok.

its simple. remove the metal key part from the FOB ( or as you call it "smart key"?) and you see an outline of a square. once the key is removed you will see and little clip/notch sticking out… get like a flat head and pry it open in the slot beneath the clip type thing. and to put back reverse.

We both are on a different subject, i was asking this guy if he has a CA key, if he does all he has to do is change the battery (located in the back) , if he doesnt then he can either charge it through the ignition or get it replaced.
