how much did this cost? i have a steptronic too and am kinda tired of the knob... i need something sportier....do they have other options too or is this the only one?

this is for the 6 speed manual it has numbers on top I jsut put in on my auto, they dont have anyting like this for the auto
its like a retro fit, haha. but its fits fine
I will be selling it soon when I trade the car in

yes I did. there are no good auto shift knobs available anywhere. at all. they all look well like the original one..
manual ones are cool. and this one is little tiny and really cool imo. about 1/3 the size of the original one. I found myself shifting the car the entire time after I put it in . felt really cool.

and is there something wrong with this?

the stock auto shift lever has a button to disengage the lock for certain gear changes. how are you doing that with the manual lever?

actually you can just pull it down to whatever you want P/N/D whatever. not sure how good it is for the trans though.

no idea if it'll damage tranny but manual knobs look so much sportier

yea thats what i figured, however the lock is there for a reason. can u imagine what will happen if he forgets hes not in manual mode and decides to downshift 2 gears from D, hello reverse.

ok first the button basically lieft the internal mechanical lever. basically like a stick in a hole. lifting this is disingagin the lock mechinism.. you also have to push the brake..
When you take the auto knob off, the stick, also comes out, therefor its disingaged..
so all you do is push the brake and move the lever.
BMW is not dumb.
you cannot go into reverse without pushing the brake pedal.
if you are driving and you move the shiftlever into R it does not engage or disengage the transmission. so you cant acidentally shove it in revers. BMW tech is better then you think. I rember old ford truck you could do this, not so on this car.

does it work just like the stock one? how does it feel.. I hate the stock shifter.. so bulky..
