Personally, I think the darker the car color is, the lighter the tint should be. Vice versa, the lighter the car is, the darker the tint should be.

I have seen both White and Silver E90s with the darkest percentage and the cars still look good.

for the million threads on the topic and you'll find some more useful info.

I don't like dark tint. If your interior is black, the tint looks darker. With a gray or beige interior, it doesn't look as dark.

IMO, go 35% at the darkest, and select a tint that looks neutral gray. I have FormulaONE Pinnacle, a ceramic tint (Huper Optik also makes ceramic), and it looks great. A lot of F1 tint around e90post. Others have been happy with Madico Charcoal and there are others recommended here. Definitely search and you'll find photos, too. Good luck!

Don't go real dark it's a bitch to back up at night and you will attract unwanted attention from the PO lice. I tinted windows for a long time in the "80s. Tell them no cutting of the rubber seals around the windows and make sure they protect your rear deck speakers with towels or something. In the end it is worth the protection your interior gets from UV rays. By the way even the very lightest film protects your interior just as much as the darker films regarding UV rays. Good luck.
