Car won\'t start *FIXED*
Hey guys. So I'm stuck in New York and my car won't start.
Called AAA they came out to try to jump it. Battery was reading 12.6 volts. Let the car sit charging for a bit and then tried it and the it turned like 2 very slowly and then gave out again. The thing is though, I'm not hearing my fuel pump so I'm thinking it may be that. The car started up fine yesterday and I went to try it today and absolutely nothing. Not a single crank. Please help or share your experience. My guess is a fuel pump but I'd rather take advice from you all with experience. Thanks for reading! |

Could be, 72K is not a lot but it's possible. Gonna have to take it in to a shop. Do you have a code reader? That might help

The car should read between 13.5 and 14 volts to make sure it's providing enough charge plus extra to run the car so battery could be the problem unless 12.6 was the reading on battery with car off. If the car started when jumped and cut off while running it wouldn't be the starter. If you can't hear the fuel pump priming when unlocking the car then it's the fuel pump id say almost 100%

The statistics are in your favor that it probably wouldn't be the fuel pump, although it's possible. I'm sure but the likelihood is a lot higher on 335's that the fuel pump would blow.

battery
From what you have written it is a battery.
Always start from the simplest problems. In your case I'm almost sure of that, 12.6 V after a certain time of charging is not the best of the readouts. It should be around 13 or higher. I would start here and then... no ! start here |

Well if all electronics work but it just clicks once or twice when you press it it's a starter. Nothing else it could be. If it was a battery then electronics wouldn't be working. If it's the fuel pump it would keep trying to turn over and click endlessly but would never start from lack of fuel. Since it's neither or those it's got to be the starter.

Batteries are 12 volt not 13? Why would it have a higher charge than that? If it says it's 12.6v on the reading it should have enough to at least turn the engine over. But if it's not turning it over and only clicking once or twice then it would be a starter. Battery is going to be the problem if no electronics are on. Starter is problem if it has electronics on but will not turn over more than once or twice when pressing button to start. It will be fuel pump if it turns over and over again but no cranking.
