steering wheel differences????
Hi, so I see a lot on here about people changing the se steering wheel for the msport one, is there actually any difference besides the chrome bits and the msport badge?

I believe the M-Sport wheel is thicker than the standard sport but I might be wrong (never actually lay my hands on a sport wheel).

M Sport wheel is thicker and has perforated leather.
I made the change and it is honestly one of the best mods I have done. The bit you are taliking about with the silver bits is just a facia, you can change that without changing the whole wheel if you wanted. Edit- Sorry just noticed that you already have an M Sport. |

^^ what he said. The m sport wheel is thicker and perf. M3 wheel is just as thick with no perf and tri color stitching. Center trims are all interchangeable for whichever one you want between msport, sport and m I believe.

msport steering wheel on my 335i is my fav part of the car, worth the entire price of the msport pack imho
every car I get into since I got my 335 the steering when feels cheap and small the perforated leather is awesome if you don't have an msport wheel, do not sit in a car with one cause you will immediately want it |

I bought mine (m-sport, not //m) from seller paramount_styling on eBay for around $400. Very satisfied with it so far and shipping was quick even when it was coming all the way from from Sweden. Of course I bought a steering wheel trim separately for another $100. Since you have the pre-LCI paddle shifters, go for the M3 paddle shifters to save yourself some headache with the wiring. They look and feel better than the LCI paddle shifters anyway. So yeah, go for the //m steering wheel for the full conversion package!

Just remember the most important step before starting this mod: disconnect the battery! Oh and don't close the trunk after disconnecting it. It always happens to someone. |

Ok so the reason I'm asking is because my wheel has the se faceia but by what you guy's have been saying it looks like I have an msport wheel. Maybe the previous owner changed the faceia due to wear. Here's a picture of my wheel what do you guy's think?
Sorry it's a bad pic. |

Yep, looks like you have an M Sport wheel rim with Sport center trim. At least that is what I am seeing from a U.S. perspective. I'm not expert on how cars were specc'd for the U.K.
The sport trim is better I think because it has metal trim along the edges that are likely to get scuffed. That plastic scuffs so easily on the wheel. I never touch mine for fear of messing it up! If you do not like the trim, consider the Sport trim from the X1, best-looking trim that is a direct fit. |

Thanks guys I can confirm now that the wheel is msport with an se faceia. I'm going to change it to the msport or look into getting the x1 like combat ninja suggested.
