Preorder anxiety - switch from Passat

I got anxiety attack before the ordering which I will put tomorrow

I am about to order an:
  • BMW 320d (steptronic) E90, Le Mans blue
  • Dakotta Black skin
  • M-Sport equipment incl. 18" 193 rims
  • Xenon
  • Prof. Navi with iPod connection
  • Cruise Control, auto dimming mirrors. rain sensor, etc. (part of "comfort" package in Norway)

I am in dilemma if to go for Glacier Silver or Brushed Aluminium trim...

I am given a slot of production week 47, delivery 51.

The price in Norway is ridiculous so I am trying to focus on joy of having an BMW

Looking forward to change from Passat 1.6l (pre 2000 model) to BMW E90. I guess the difference "should" be noticeable

I think you should go for the brushed aluminium, that's my favorite. I think the brushed finish looks bether than that of the glacier silver.

So soon into production? How do you guys pull this off? I ordered my car in week 39, and I have been told that I'm lucky if I get it before the end of december ... actually I have still not gotten a confirmed production week from my dealer

In Norway the glacier silver is standard with the M-package and you can get the brushed aluminium as an option.

I justed checked bmw.dk and glacier silver (code 4MG) is standard with the M-package (code 337) in Denmark also. But, with the 337 there is no additional cost if you choose brushed aluminimum (code 4AD) instead of glacier silver (this also applies here in Norway)

My last car was a 2000 Passat V6 2.8l MT. My current car is an E90 335i MT, sport package.

I loved my last car; I love my current car. My new car is better in almost every single way except.....

- the Passat had a drop more room
- the Passat had a better trip computer (I don't have iDrive)
- the Passat had a slightly more comfortable ride (obvious trade off)
- I had killer iPod integration with its aftermarket Alpine head unit
- the Passat had more storage cubbies

None of the above matters near as much to me as....

- the 335i has a much better suspension
- the 335i has much better balance
- the 335i has insanely better hp and torque
- the 335i steering feel is orgasmic
- the 335i stopping power and lack of fade on track days rocks
- the 335i has many more cool gizmos

Even worse for me -- I ordered mine already 17/7 (week 29), and I still won't get it until week 48.

Actually, the OP's car is an E90, which might explain why he gets it so fast whereas we have to wait so long for our E92s.

I ordered mine E92 M-sport the 20/9 and I have also got a confirmed delivery in week 48, which I think is not bad since I ordered mine 2 months after you

That's just not fair! :sad0147:
Although it is a slight consolation for me that you have to pay 60% more money for your car because of higher taxes...

Just kidding, hope you get it as soon as possible -- I know I can't wait for mine. Btw, mine's an M-sport too. 325d, Comfort package, Adaptive lights, CA, Compass mirror. What's your spec?

I signed on the 24th of september and my dealer said he ordered the car right away. You are lucky getting your car that fast.

What engine? My dealer said BMW are having delivery problems om the 320d engine because of high demand. Could he just be BS'ing me?

I know I have not been waiting that long yet, but I wont my new car ... the wait is just killing me!!!

I have ordered an E92 with a 320d engine because the price for the 325d with the equipment I wanted got too expensive for my budget But, for only 3000 NOK I can get a Chip Tuning that gives this car 209HP and 413NM which is close to the 325d stock performance.

My current spec's on order is (still have som few weeks to change):

- Black Sapphire, Metallic
- M-sport Package
- The 19" M-wheels option and 17" on winter, but considering 18" ?
- Alcantara interior
- Chrome Kidney Grills
- Navigation/i-drive
- I-pod connection kit
- Hi-Fi upgrade
- Storage Package
- Glacier Silver Trim, but considering to change to brushed Aluminium ?

Any suggestions for changes of these spec's without getting the car more expensive ?

Phantomwar, are you getting the comfort package? If not, I think you really should.

Hi, I have considered the Comfort package, I already have 50% of the Comfort package in my specs. but missing the PDC rear, lightpackage, cruisecontrol, split armrest and the folding mirror. Out of these specs, I am only really interested in the PDC Rear spec.

Since I have already pushed my budget to the limit I am thinking to upgrade the stereo to Hi-Fi instead of getting the rest of the Comfort package. What would you choose between these two options ?

That's too bad. For me, the 325d was only about 25000 SEK (21000 NOK?)more than the 320d + comes with power seats, so it was an easy choice.

That is actually more peak power and torque than the stock 325d, although of course the powerband won't be as nice and wide as on the 6-cylinder 325.

Nice spec. My suggestion would be to really consider if you must have the built in Nav/I-Drive/I-Pod. This costs a lot of money, and you can get a *much* better off the shelf Nav unit for a mere fraction of the cost. Some new Nav units lets you connect your I-Pod and plays back the sound over your car speaker system (using an FM transmitter).

I'm getting the Glacier Silver trim since it will be more rare than the regular brushed aluminium and won't look as much as the stock "titanium" plastic trim.

I would definately go with the full comfort package. Most of the time I drive I like to listen to the car rather than to music. The few times I am really bored and want to listen to music are usually on long highway drives. But then road noise means that the audio quality won't be perfect anyway, so I don't think the HiFi-package is really worth it for me.

On the other hand, I think the full comfort package is good value for money. I see PDC as an insurance, which will likely pay for itself in the end. Also, the light package is supposed to be really nice from what I hear.

Do you mean considering 18" wheels as an alternative to the 19" summer wheels or 18" winter wheels as an alternative to 17"?

I personally think the M-sport 18" wheels (193) are actually nicer than the 19" inch option.

However, what's really troubling me it trying to pick wheels for my winter tires. This guy (http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=44313) has the nicest-looking winter setup I've seen, so I'm considering those rims. However, I wouldn't get 19" winter wheels (because of tire replacement costs and handling characteristics) -- I wonder if they look as good in 17" or 18"?

What are you fellow scandinavians getting for your winter setups? Is it worth getting 18" winter wheels or do the disadvantages outweigh the nicer looks? Any tips on nice rims?
