M5 vs r8 v10
So saw an Audi r8 v10 today. He was in from of me at the traffic light, at the green light we both took off. I was impressed!!!
He was barely keeping up and I think I set a new record on how fast I passed the shopping center. Before I know it we were both past 120 and he gave up. Wow. Just love the m5. |

Do you have mod on your M5? If it is purely stock I think it can't beat R8 V10.
Anyway, M5 is a nice car. I love it so much and gradually found I bought the wrong machine for myself.

Stock vs stock. I think it was the pre facelift. He was maybe a nose ahead to a certain point, after 40mph up till 120 I pulled away hard. He was atleast a car length behind. The guy looked very upset after I passed him.

Stock R8 1/4 mile times from dragtimes:
http://www.dragtimes.com/compare2.ph...ame=Compare%21 The first three times are actually car magazine times (weather corrected and trap speed is GPS speed at 1,320'). The first "real" 1/4 mile time is slower than my 1/4 mile time (and trap speed) from a hot and humid day. The R8 V10 is a great sports car...but in straight line acceleration it is very beatable by an F10 M5. |

From a dig until the tyres hook up on the M5 an R8 V10 will out accelerate the former, but the M5 will pretty quickly reel in the Audi when it gains traction. Remember there is close to 100 hp and almost 200 lb ft advantage to the M5 and this will beat the AWD and lower weight of the R8 eventually.

I beat up two r8 v10s 2011and 2012s off the line and a 50 roll. But one of them was my fathers cars and then he got his tuned and now he pulls on me but slightly.

Such a funny thread. I own both cars and while mine is a GT its comparable to a 2012 V10 in some aspects. From a dig to 200km the R8GT whips the M5. From 50km/h to 200 its very close almost a tie I would say depending on who is driving the M5. On a few bends and turns its no contest, the R8 absolutely obliterates my M5. From looks and stares to exclusive parking spots, the R8 - actually quite uncomfortable at times. Enjoy the M5, definitely super performance when you consider the amount of weight and traction loss.

My M5 dyno'd on a friend dynojet at 540hp or so SAE corrected and the R8 was at 479 on heartbreaking Mustang dyno. But the R8 is circa 600 lbs lighter so its AWD loss will be slower even at top speeds and it runs very very strong to 175 plus.

Vic, let's do a friendly 60-130 run. Curious to see what happens.

The winner of any contest: dependent on the driver. Watched a TopGear episode with a comparison between 911 and Audi R8 convertibles; 2 drag races: different outcomes based on the helmsman.
