When did you pay dealer for your PDC car?
My PDC date is October 25 and my dealer is asking me to come in ASAP and pay for the car. Seems a bit early, I was thinking more like October 22 and wondered when you folks who took PDC delivery had to pay for your vehicles.

2 weeks prior to your PDC is when you are required to come in and pay, do all your paper work, etc. The PDC needs copies of everything to verify they can release the car to you, so 2 weeks to make sure everything has enough time to get done and to the PDC. Would kinda suck if you forgot to cross a t, and then got all the way to SC before they said "sorry, we can't let you drive this car off the lot"

2 questions
I guess since the dealer is cashing the check, we start paying for interest 2 weeks before we get the car?? Most banks want proof of insurance when their check is cashed? Do we have to get insurance the day we give the dealer the check or the day we pick up the car? thanks |

Would you believe me if I said I don't really know? I don't. I was out of touch with the dealer (a vendor on here) for a couple of days around 9/21-9/25, and it was ordered during that time.

I ordered my car Aug. 9th, and I haven't heard a word from my CA since I made some changes end of August before production began. My car is schedule to land on west coast this coming Monday. Should I be worried? Reason why I haven't called him is b/c i'm still trying to figure out the numbers and what will work best for me. I already put down 1k deposit when i ordered car and have a signed paper with the vehicle and specs.

Thanks! I went ahead and paid for the vehicle today. Lined up my insurance beforehand, so now I have insurance, a bill of sale, a license plate and am all set to go pick up the vehicle on the 25th. Felt weird getting congratulated, walking out and getting back into my current car. Dealer threw in floor mats, plus gave us a bag of goodies (hats, shirts, cd case, keychain).
13 days to go

Silly question, but what is PDC? I'm used to that acronym referring to Parking Distance Control, so I'm a bit lost as to the definition used here.
Also, is the 2 weeks prior period standard during the purchasing process? I just placed my order last Saturday and I wasn't notified of having to finalize the sale prior to the vehicle arriving at the dealership. That's fine if that seems to be the case, but it's definitely surprising to hear. Last edited by ntgxtreme; 10-13-2007 at 08:44 PM.. |

You only have to finalize the sale prior to picking up the vehicle if you are picking it up at the Performance Driving Center....in Greenville, South Carolina, see http://www.bmwusa.com/bmwexperience/...center/default

Technically, the timeline should be that accessories be ordered at least two weeks prior to delivery. As far as doing paperwork, ultimately, the center has to send in a release authorization along with proof of purchase, i.e. buyer's order, lease or retail agreement, to the PCD prior to the PC releasing the car to you. Personally, I've had release authorizations sent in two weeks to days before the actual delivery date with circumstances varying, of course. In the end, it's at the mutual discretion between you and the center as to when you do the paperwork. I'm comfortable with a week prior ust like the new requirement for paperwork signing on ED's. I'm not sure if that's going to be SOP for other centers though.
