Have had 2 Coils fail now, performance coils?

Hey guys so I've already had one coil fail and I think I have another going now because of being tuned. I am wondering if the performance ones are worth it? I have not heard good things about the Bav auto ones so besides those are there any other good options? Or should I just stick to OEM Bosch?

Thanks

Ok because I'm at 38k so guess I'll just stick with Bosch.

Thanks!

I've read only good things about the Plasma Direct Ignition Coils from Active Auto. Its probably the best way to forget about your coils/misfire headaches.

Active Autowerke has been using the Okada Projects plasma direct coils for a long time and has never replaced any for whatever reason.

The Plasma Direct is the ignition coil with a high powr amplifier built in to it.
The Plasma Direct produces 4 times more spark energy than stock coils and also genegrate an ultra fast, multi spark discharge of 10 sparks up to the highest RPM.
The spark amperage is increased 100%, allowing the spark to reach many more molecules, and therefore accelerate the ignition and combustion process.
The end result is a faster, more efficient burn that promotes performance throughout the entire rpm range.
This is extremely important in forced induction applications as well as normallyn aspirated engines.

The Plasma Direct will increase horsepower and torque. This upgrade will also reduce fuel consumption. Even the engines with a legendary smoothness will be further refined with the Plasma Direct upgrade.

Plasma Direct is made to a specific application. Please choose the correct model for your car.
• 100% secondary current (Spark Amperage) increase
• 4 Times Spark Energy Increase for the initial spark discharge
• Direct bolt-in to the engine, no splicing or cutting into stock wiring

• Easy installation. Only replace stock coils to Plasma Direct.
• Simply replace the stock coils with the Plasma Direct and you are ready to go

• Compatible with all OEM components
• Compatible with OBD-II (On-Board-Diagnostics)

A few folks run the Okada coils...no objective evidence they do much. Seriously expensive last I checked too. Unless you have some pretty exotic needs, just go with OE coils. If you really are concerned about burn conditions, go one step colder with the plugs.

Okada are expensive. You really shouldnt have any hard time with OEM Coils unless you have some mysterious power adder that I havn't heard of?

I think we've sold 1 set since in a year for the Okada.

I was mostly just wondering about performance coils since I've had two coils go bad in the past month or so. But it's sounding like it was just bad luck.

Not trying to spend a ridiculous amount of money of performance ones either so I'll just grab a few OEM coils off eBay.

I run a keene bell "boost a spark" with zero issues. I did fry a resistor inside a spark plug when i was experimenting with the 50% setting. I usually just run it at 25% off the boost switch when I'm racing and about 15% off the boost switch when I'm dd'ing. Butt dyno tells me it has a little more torque in the midrange. I may do some back to back runs and see if there is any variance on a VD graph. Doubt it's anything significant. I just did it for assurance when cramming so much meth, fuel, and/or race fuel, and boost into the motor. Have had great success on other platforms and i like the fact that it only turns on with my boost switch.
