Vessel: pegasus diamond -- anyone else on this one?

I think (THINK) my car is on this boat, but I can't find it as much I try with the AIS, etc. Anyone else on this boat heading to beautiful Oxnard (P.H., in reality, but close enough to Oxnard for me)?

I picked up a 73 2002 touring I imported from Holland at P.H. about 4 years ago and it was a hoot. Too bad BMW has to pick it up this time....

Port Huneme? Oxnard is a dump...that port is the only thing keeping it alive.

At least the drive back up to Norcal after picking up your baby will be fun!

Yes, Oxnard and P.H. are dumps. Some northern California snobs think ALL of SoCal is a dump (I, of course recognize there a few nice spots -- a few).

But the point is: does anyone here have a car on this boat? Anyone tracking it?

My 335xci may be on this boat based on monitoring the Bremerhaven outgoing schedule and the day at which my vehicle status switched to "en route". Next time I speak with dealership I will ask them to confirm the vessel. Regardless, the wait is excruciating, is it not?

My CA confirms that I am on this vessel. She tells me it is due to arrive at the port on October 28th.

I might be on this ship too. I was told that my ETA is 10/28, but I don't know if he ment ETA at the port or dealership. I had a week 38 build so I'm either on this ship or the two that left before it. I need to confirm this weekend because the wait is killing me.

Dtekone, I have an e92 335i inbound on this boat. I checked the San Diego port schedule this afternoon and it is scheduled to arrive 10/28 in San Diego, then arrive 10/29 in Port Hueneme. This boat doesn't appear to participate in the AIS tracking system, but there may be some other way to find it. The NSK callsign for Pegasus Diamond is JBEL. Once the boat arrives I would guess it takes several days to pass customs, go through VPC, then onto a truck for delivery to your dealer. My CA in Seattle is estimating delivery sometime in early November....I interprete this as the second week in November. The wait is killing me!

At least your car has only to go as far as Seattle. I have at least another week to wait beyond that for trip from Seattle/Tacoma to AK. Unbearable!

What may be good news for you is that the Port Hueneme schedule has Pegasus Diamond arriving on October 27th. Now a scanned typewritten page updated every now and then doesn't strike me as the most sophisticated tracking system, but this schedule was just put up a couple days ago for what it's worth.

Has anyone else tried to track this boat? I have but can't figure it out, so I don't really count. Not that I doubt you MWTPDE, I'm curious if anyone had any success....

Whereabouts of PD

Haven't had luck getting precise location of the ship. Should be in the Panama Canal today or tomorrow given locations of ships which left Bremerhaven after PD. You can view the locks of the canal at

http://www.pancanal.com/eng/photo/camera-java.html

Here's the AIS of the canal zone, but not many ships are listed.

A picture of the ship can be found at:

I haven't had any luck looking at the free ship tracking sites, including Vessel Tracker (I signed up for their free service but was unable to log in). I just haven't had the time or the persistence to try calling NYK lines. They might be able to give you a position report if you call in. As a last ditch effort you might be able to spend $$ on a site like Vessel Tracker to get a real time AIS position report on the boat.

I would agree with HERR FSTIR on the guess that the ship is near the Panama Canal somewhere. I ran a coastline route on Google Earth and it shows about 3565 miles from the canal to Port Hueneme. Assuming the boat is averaging 20 mph around the clock, that would put them in port in about 7 and a half days. Last I heard, Port Hueneme is still expecting arrival on the 27th.

I'm pretty sure my audi is on this boat as well. Unfortunately Audi doesnt' provide the same level of customer support during the shipping process which is why I'm poking around here!

Pegagus Diamon is due into San Diego 10/28....

Pegasus Diamond spotted? I just happened to look at the Panama Canal webcams just now 3:15pm PST and I think I see our boat exiting the Gatun locks into Gatun Lake.

I read somewhere it takes about 9 hours to transit the canal. If that is true, look for it on the Centennial Bridge or Miraflores locks webcams later tonight. Perhaps 11:00pm PST. Perhaps we can confirm this is the boat with a better webcam shot...

May not have much luck due to poor lighting conditions at the bridge and the pacific sided locks. Will check it out just in case...will be about 10PM up here.

Pegasus Diamond - October 28th Arrival Date

Hey everybody,
My car is on the Pegasus Diamond, too. It is amazing how different the carriers enable you to track or not (2W vs. NYK). The scheduled arrival date for the PD in Port H. is October 28th (as of yesterday) I did call NYK lines and after being redirected several times, I found Dora. She did tell me about the 28th, nevertheless my Dealer did always have the 28 listed despite the PH schedule pdf listing the 27th. Maybe it is arrival versus deboarding or one day buffer? Dora's number is 310 618 6072, I hope she will not send me hate mails posting this number. She was very kind and a feedback to her employer is to improve the online tracking capability to prevent crazy BMW customers to call her.
Regarding the time from arrival to delivery, I guess it depends. The VPC will take about 4-7 days, depending whether your car is in the front or the end of the ship, then cleaning, customs and processing. Mine will get a port installed Aero Package, I am sure this will add at least 2 days. From there it is getting on the truck and will be on the road. Dependent where you live, 2-4 days. At the dealer they need another 2-3 days for all the stuff. Check, clean, prep (I am getting the performance wheels (19") and the windows will get a light taint (pretty sunny here in Tucson). I can not imaging that the dealer can do that in less than 2-3 days). All together, it will take about two month from order to delivery. That's still pretty good. I am originally from Germany and I friend of mine got the same car end September but he did order in Mai!!! BMW does an excellent job to get you your car as soon as possible due to the fact that US customers are used to drive a new car off the lot the same day. I was blown away by the speed of processing my order, the accuracy of the tracking system (mostly via phone). Then there is a lot of water between the two countries, ask your grand grand grandfathers - they would be pretty jealous if you tell them that it took only 24-25 days for the ship to get her - just kidding.
Enjoy your cars a lot and drive save!
