Potential F30 defect with rear lights in boot lid

I did do a quick search but couldn't see anything about this so just a heads up that when I was cleaning the car recently I noticed that the drivers side rear light cluster on the boot lid was loose on one side and wasn't secure properly.

I went straight back to BMW and it appears I was not the 1st person to have this issue and they have since replaced both of the boot light clusters for me.

What build date is your car? This affected very early models, common on main Forum.

Ordered at the end of May 2013 and picked her up on the 11th July 2013. I must admit I only looked at the UK forum when I searched so my bad.

Cheers. BMW have replaced both of them already for me so hopefully these will last longer than the initial 3 weeks!!

Uh oh... mine's a May 2012 build so I wonder if that's yet another problem I can look forward to?

I have a 2013 build, and had to have both rear light assemblies replaced...another one of those F30 "gremlins"...

My near side rear light is held on with duck tape ATM until i can get it into a dealers to get it fixed.

and it looks like it has been previously repaired.
as there is a line of black goop that has detached near the outside edge and a plastic clip that has snapped off.

the edge that snapped has stress marks that look like it was bent back into place and eventually broken off.

also the plastic hinge guides for the boot lid don't stay in place on the trim underneath the lid.
making me think they have been put back on missing some sort of fastener after repairing the lights.
