Octane Question

Anyone have working knowledge on using aftermarket additives to bump up the level of 91 octane? What does a higher octane do for cars in performance? 93 octane isn't available around the bay area, CA. I'm just correlating that Racing fuel is commonly 106 octane and I'm assuming this is for performance?

I know our engines are quite high compression, so a higher octane woul dlike run Ok - but I really don't know what I'm talking about. Just exploring and looking for a little education.

Thanks.

It's a waste of money, there is no noticeable difference. Save your money for some beers.

Unless you are using JATO, do not bother.

I have only seen 93 here in NJ but my car was not noticeably affected when it had to settle for 91 in other states.

During ED I used 100 Octane at a gas station. Don't notice any difference. They said it would be better gas milage. But it was all freeway driving for that trip anyway. Not sure if I see any different. I say save you money!

That is 100 RON octane over there, not the same method of calculation.
