Arrow Catless Downpipes - Akrapovič CEL Suppressor

Just ordered my AMS catless downpipes from Malek at MRF Engineering.

If it amplifies the current exhaust sound by a marginal amount I might pass on a aftermarket catback exhaust system like the super-duper expensive akrapovič.

If anyone has just catless downpipes on their car, can you describe the differences in sound and power over stock.

As for the check engine light, will the akrapovič "delete R check engine light suppressor" work?

Thanks - Alpha

The catless dp's will make your stock exhaust significantly louder. Adding the akra setup to the dp's will sound even more amazing. The only way to clear the cel is to go catted or wait for a tune.

It will sound amazing, plus no drone! I currently have the Akrapovic with AMS catless DPs, you will get a check engine light even with the micro cats. I just clear the cel every time it comes on every 60 miles. Takes a minute using PLX Kiwi Wifi and Dash Command on the iPhone. That's my solution until a tune is available.

Wish there was a video of the catless DPs with stock exhaust.

Also for the CEL, has anyone tried the akrapovič delete R check engine light suppressor?

Brian, the PLX is a wifi device that plugs into the obd II, it gives you all sort of reading from the car like HP, Tq, Boost, and etc. Also it read out trouble codes and clears them as well. Cool thing is it uses wifi and transmit data wirelessly with an iPhone. The app that I'm using is Dash Command.

So this is what the delete R is doing from what I just read. It doesn't keep the light from happening, the car will keep throwing codes. The suppressor plugs into the OBD II and automatically clears the CEL every time it comes on. Only thing is that it is always plugged into the obd port. This can be a temporary solution before a tune comes out.

Here is a video of the AMS catted downpipes with an otherwise stock exhaust. Catless will be a little louder with more crackle.

I haven't purchased the P3Cars integrated digital interface yet, but from what I read on their site for the gauge it will "read and clear diagnostic trouble codes". Reading their set up instructions tells me that simply by pushing and holding the left button while the Clr.C display is up, all codes will be cleared. Can any current owners of the P3Cars gauge confirm that this is how it works?

Today we had a BMW meet up in Katy Tx. They had a BMW mechanic there to answer any questions we may have had. I told him I was about to purchase the ams catless dp and asked him about the cel. He informed that although you could clear the cel it would not pass when you get your inspection sticker. Nobody gas gone through that yet but I hope a simple solution can solve thus w/o spending lots if money.

You can only clear generic OBD "P codes" , the CEL thrown by catless downpipes will also be recorded in the DME and can't be cleared with the P3 or simple BMW OEM sw.
As has been mentioned you'll also not pass inspection with a CEL on / code recorded

Thanks for the answer, but your knowledge of the intricacies of BMW workings is beyond mine. I don't know the various levels of codes but assume 'P codes' are involved with the less vital functions of the car and not the more critical engine or drivetrain related codes? Michigan, for whatever reason still doesn't have a smog check in place, so that doesn't concern me for now. I do have a concern over the possibility of BMW not allowing warranty repair for any engine related problem if I do go catless with the downpipe.

In other words, YES, BMW will be able to see your codes.

Are you getting a CEL with the microcats? How is Supersprint claiming no CEL?
