What is this trim piece?

What is this trim piece just above the cup holders/ash tray area? Will it pop out if I pull hard enough? I can't tell if it will come out on it's own or if its attached to a larger piece of the dash trim.... I'm trying to decide if I want to attempt a custom radar install....

It covers the lower part of the CIC (radio/dvd/nav).

Here's a video I found of someone removing the radio and the removal of the trim piece you reference:

It doesn't look like there's a lot of space there.

Thanks for that video. So it looks like that piece should pop right out without removing all that other stuff.... There might be enough room there for me. I'm just looking for a space to flush mount the mute button for the escort detector.

Is there some sort of manual that shows how to take off all interior trim pieces of the f30? Apillars, etc?

Thanks. Having a hard time finding it for f30. I guess the e90 is close enough

Having done a lot of interior (and exterior) DIY work on my F30, the general approach is:
1) grab with both hands
2) pull uncomfortably firmly
3) cringe as the piece flies off in your hands
4) inspect in amazment as all tabs remain in good shape
5) repeat

Your mileage may vary...

Lol, yea I just hate to break the clips as I'm ripping the apillar off. The direction of the pull is key. Is it out and up or out and sideways towards the front door?

I sucked it up and paid for the online access a while back to have the current F30 info. I try to avoid breaking clips as well...especially on larger pieces.
