330d torque/power.

Afternoon all! Just had my car on a Dyno dynamics rollers.
It made 269hp and 440 ft ibs of torque at the wheels is that good? I know it's around 600nm. It's had dpf delete, swirl flaps removed and a panel filter +remap

Hi there
It's quite ok.
It's aprox the same as I had on mine before dpf delete and with bigger FMIC but with swirl flaps and std filter.

Sounds fine to me, did you get flywheel figures too?
What map has it got? I'm currently trying to decide which one to get

I had it mapped at a place in Nottingham called gee diesels. Know the owner so got it cheaper. The power delivery is very impressive. It's an auto so can cope with it hopefully! It's had a full oil and filter change(gearbox) so it should be fine now.

It's fast, a friend of mine has a 135i he had fitted a jb4 to it and he could not pull away from me from a rolling start! I just can't move back to petrol, I like diesel torque to much! Plus fuel economy is 50+ at 70mph

Do the manual boxes not like as much torque as the auto then?
I'm really interested to see how it goes after the map, my RS4 was 460lb/ft or so at the fly, so not that different but was 420bhp though

No auto is better for big power, manual I think is ok on just a map.

Ye that's it I have almost the same torque but no where near as many revs as a petrol!

It's in hucknall, mine was cheap as I did all the work. I took my dpf off and he sorted the software. So I'm not sure on a price really. Look on google for gee diesels hucknall, they don't have a website but he is a Delphi agent

Btw, Bigger FMIC and you have almost the same mods as I had. And with that I got 307hp/687Nm...There's more power in it yet ;-)

I think a lot of my power lose/expectancy was probably lost today with the high ambient temp. Hence my thinking of a Wagner big cooler it goes like he'll anyway. Mine manage 600nm when I converted the ft ibs earlier

Those figures don't look right to me , my old e90 330d did 285 bhp with just a bluefin. DPF EGR and all that stuff still in tact

When you say remap .. what kind of remap ? performance remap? or an eco remap? Performance map with EGR and DPF delete I would be expecting to see 300+ even in todays temps

@335DEE
What was your turbo pressure raised to on the old 330d with 285hp?

Manual or autobox? Was the powerband wide or spikey?

I never asked for either economy or performance. I wanted it to be driveable and useable power. It pulls like a train, see thing is torque is good but not all rollers are the same so I could probably do with a second run on another set. But the graph is smooth and power is consistent. I'm not wanting stupid power, might fit a Wagner intercooler to keep charge temps down.

I will plugs my snap on machine in tomorrow and go for a 30 minute drive and see what boost I make and temp I see.

Maybe I over estimated slightly it's 274 .. http://www.mybluefin.co.uk/curves/BM...bhp-Manual.pdf

The car was very quick , I recall that much . Power delivery was still progressive albeit a bit more pronounced . Don't think you can really do much with the boost in a diesel because of the already massive compression thats going on.

for a fact my 335d with DPF removal and remap which had 285bhp as std and now runs 378 still runs the same boost ( just shy of 23 psi)

Not sure what mine ran before but my golf before this ran about 15-18psi I think it's now about 22-24psi. Not sure with the bmw as I never watched boost pressure before and after so can't really compare it. I'm impressed with the power, it was lower than expected but I like it how it is so it an stay like that for a while

But the 269bhp he quoted he said was at the wheels. So at the fly you could be looking at over 300bhp.

I stand corrected, I misread and assumed fly.

335dee you was right I was wrong, it is flywheel. Don't know where i got wheels!

Might see about getting it on the rollers some where else and use that for a comparison! It does seam low but what do you think to the torque?

Sorry guys, but I think you have to high expectations.

All the tuners I have seen on the net, gives figures in the 270-280Hp range with those modifcations, typically called stage2
Only way to go higher without other mods is by compromizing the reliability by adding more boost or by going to stage3 which often means bigger/better FMIC and another turbocharger.
It's a great engine, but not that great...

@Dan
I think you are where you should expect to be with those mods.

To be honest I like the power it has, goes like stink. Keeps with a friends 135i with a jb4 so can't be that bad!

I know not every roller is the same so some could be more sensitive than others. I will leave it as is,the graph is smooth so that's fine for me. I will get a Wagner intercooler and maybe better suspension/ brakes

I disagree, bluefin states 275 with no mods(plug and go) . Being superchips they are always a little conservative on pushing the car.
With that in mind take the dpf off and expect at least 25-30 bhp on top with a remap.
