Loss of torque after vanos replacement at dealership?

I had an engine malfunction message appear and took my car to the dealership where they replaced the vanos unit. The car is doing fine now, but I swear there is a lack of umph, compared to before, when I hit the accelerator.
Does this make any logical sense to those of you with mechanical know-how?
