Lightbulb Most Logical Route

After upgrading my clutch, I'm now ready to move to the next level of performance (meth and then turbos). From what I've researched, I'm now stuck between three options I can take on achieving my goal.

My goal: Three fine tuned maps 91, 91+meth, e40+meth after I upgrade my turbos. (before anyone mention the octane, I'm in Vegas (Crappy ACN gas)

I currently switch between Cobb Stage 2+ Drive and e30 OTS maps.

Option A- $874
-Aquamist HFS-4 Kit- $850+shipping
- Master ATR (scared out of my mind, need a ATR for dummies guide) and create 6 fine tuned maps (3 the maps before turbo upgrade/three after turbo upgrade)- Free

Option B- $1,030
-JB4 G5 ISO- $479+shipping
-JB Meth Kit w/integrated tank- $529+shipping
-BMS Flash- Free
- 6 Fine tuned maps by a pro- free

Option C- $1,402.29
-Aquamist HFS-4 Kit w/ proTUNED map- $1,079+shipping
-3 additional proTUNED maps after turbo upgrade (91, 91+meth, & e40+meth)- $297

Since there's not a huge difference in the price, it's a dead draw in my eyes. The HFS-4 meth kit is superb, the guys at proTUNING Freaks are amazing, and JB4 added features would be nice... but not needed (maybe 2-step and map switching). Please feel free to leave feedback and pros/cons from experience.

If I were you I would go with option C. PTF's tunes are smooth, powerful, and they are a great group of guys that love the N54. HFS-4 is a quality meth kit that has the least amount of issues, and you won't be using any piggys to control the meth. Reason I wouldn't go with option A yet, is because I feel you need to have a solid understanding of ATR before you try and integrate meth with it. That said, it would be a great learning experience for you, and you would save some money as well. You can't go wrong with option B either, but I think the other two should have more of a priority in my opinion. Good luck with whatever you choose because you can't go wrong!

I agree, doing my homework on ATR now. Hopefully with more insight and understanding of all three options, my decision will be easier.

I had the problem of flatlining timing on cobb only pro tunes, so I run option B. The car seems to like it a lot.

Im on the same boat i'm leaning towards plan C but i wish there was a meth kit that will work with cobb thats cheaper almost 900 is pretty pricy compared to the other ones

I hear ya. There are ways to make a BMS kit a standalone, just have order a few additional parts.

option B. You'll get similar numbers for cheaper. JB4 meth dynos are impressive

switching maps on the fly is really awesome also.

Not sure why the Procede, Flex Fuel, Meth kit isn't an option here?? Too expensive? I'd much rather pay a bit more than to have to worry about e85 concentrations no being spot on with the conditions of the tune I'm running. Plus, auto-tuning amongst all of them will be nice when this last piece of software comes out integrating the two. If e85 is available to you, I'd skip the meth kit since the power and cooling features of e85 are superior. Flex Fuel and Procede = $795 + $795 = $1590 and it will make more power than A, B, & C. The dyno on Vishnu's website shows 422 ponies to the wheel on only a 60% blend.

Sorry if I took this thread off topic but this alone may generate the power you are looking for and save you some $ on the turbo upgrade...

I thought about it at first, but it quickly got eliminated. I'm not going for power, I'm upgrading the turbos to get rid of the waste gate rattle once and for all. The added power is a bonus . I run e85 now for fueling and cooling, but not every gas station have it, that's where the 91 and 91+meth maps would come into play. Plus, I'm not that big of a fan of, 'you have to run our software to use our hardware' type deal for the flex sensor, so I'd rather upgrade my fuel pump (universal to whatever software) and move forward. Besides, I only want to run about e40, my stock fuel pump should be to continue to handle that much. Once again, I'm not going for a dyno or track warrior, just a fun ride (w/o waste gate rattle).

I had to make that decision not too long ago. As I had Cobb I went with HFS-4 and PTF. They did a heck of a job with a full custom tune for practically what is 3 tanks of gas these days. Highly recommend option C. Option A was way too much to swallow for me.

I know exactly what you mean. After doing more research on ATR, I'm not considering it. No one even voted for it, lol. It was a good idea at the moment, but it's more advanced then I thought.

Many run the Aquamist kit with the JB4. You just feed the flow sensor wire in to pin #15 on the JB4 and it can monitor flow and progressively tune as a function of meth flow. The trade off with that kit is it's a universal style kit and a lot harder to install. Other than that I've heard nothing but good things about it. I personally prefer the BMS 2.2g trunk kit though. Now that they've updated the fittings its pretty solid and easy to install/remove.
