JB4 map 5 and map 2.... 1/4 mile time= 13.5????
Title says it all. It was a 85 degree day and engine temp was reading 240... Is that a normal time for the JB4 with 94 octane. I was expecting to be in the low 12's

Without downpipes you should be running map 1 if you want to use a fixed map. If you use map5 you need to be sure its acclimated with at least 3 WOT runs in 3rd gear.
If you acclimate map 5 then go to another map you have to redo the WOT runs when you switch back because it loses everything it learned on a map switch. The WOT runs will give it a quick head start in learning the car. They are not necessary because the car is always learning with map 5 unless you are doing map switching to make comparisons & have a major change in fuel quality that you need to dial in fast. Car should run a bit better but I would not look for low 12's on just a tune with pump gas. It would need E85 or 100 octane mixed in.

think i found out the reason why... yesterday i had long cranks and shaking engine like a misfire, but it wasnt a misfire because it was at engine start up. last night i took the jb4 off of my car and still today long cranks, but no misfire or shaky engine. i feel an HPFP issue brewing in my car.
agreed? |

thank you for your advice... thats stuff i didnt know. on the map guide that i printed off it doesnt say or note any of what you just said for the different maps. i just went and looked at the latest sheet though on N54tech and it states some recommendations, but what you said is more useful to me. i have 19 inch wheels and wide tires in the back, 275 and 245 in front. i should be in the 12's at least, but with HPFP issues, im wondering if the car realized that and wouldnt up the boost that a tune was trying to push through it. the car has run a lot quicker before, a lot different than the way it ran at the track so i know it is capable of doing a lot faster, but first i need to get this shakey engine and long cranks fixed. |

track location? timeslip? so many variables in a 1/4 pass its impossible to say anything without knowing a lot more about the pass. As far as we know this took place at 10,000' elevation and you had a 2.6s 60'

What was your et? That will give a pretty good indication as to whether you are making the power you should be. If you are, then it is likely just a practice your launch type of thing.
Altitude can also hurt ya. |
