JB Weld on Intake Manifold Nipple

So I broke off that stupid plastic nipple that is attached to the intake manifold when installing an ER charge pipe. Anyone done this fix using JB weld or something similar? If so, what steps should I take to make sure to get the best seal/weld? Do I sand both sides down first to make it rough and then apply or do I want it smooth?

Drill/tap/replace with a brass fitting. I have pictures of how I did mine, I'll post them as soon as I find them...

EDIT: Found them. I basically drilled out the remaining plastic nipple bits and then tapped it with a 1/4" tap. Then, I screwed the new brass fitting in (very carefully, don't strip out your fresh threads) and then put some epoxy around the fitting for good measure. It's help up flawlessly. I hope this helps!

Did you try just the JB weld on the original plastic nipple route first?

JB weld is like duct tape, its only acceptable when you don't know how to fix things right in the first place. Last thing you want is for a little piece to break off and go for a joy ride in a cylinder. As stated above it is a very good permanent fix that is easy to do and only takes a few minutes.

yeah there is a time and place for JB weld but when a brass fitting the right size is readily available... it's a no brainer.

If you really want to use the JB weld use it on the threads of the brass fitting when you insert it. (it actually is a pretty good epoxy.)

I have in the past done some good saves w/ JBW.. saved some really munged up blind holes in a vintage aluminum intake with JB weld (still don't have the ability to weld aluminum...) holes too big for correct size helicoil. So I tapped them to whatever would work to give them some tooth. filled the holes with JBW and let set. Then drilled and tapped the JBW for the correct size Helicoil. That actually worked believe it or not.

But like I said when you can fix it using something better for not much coin why not?

Sorry to deviate from the subject, whats the purpose of this ? this nipple connects back into both intakes that feed turbos, and I found it moist with oil fumes, oil was literally dripping from the hose.... are these the culprits of intake gunk ?

I used JBW initially, but didn't seem very strong after some time so I replaced with brass fitting... very solid now.
