'Launch control' on a steptronic is essentially brake boosting, I.e. holding the brake and throttle together to build boost at a stand still and then releasing the brake and off you go. It is arguably better than the DCT LC for a modified car with more power as you have more control. DTC LC is calibrated for stock power levels and struggles with traction when you have more power as there's only one setting.

YEP. It's called clutch and throttle modulation from your left and right foot.

Doesn't matter what car you have, launch control is a function on automated manual transmission cars only, e.g. SMG, DCT, DSG, PDK, etc.

Not sure even if automatic transmissions have launch control, e.g. ZF 8 speed or merc AMG autos. Happy for someone to confirm if this is the case.

A manual is just that. Gotta manually launch yourself.

Launch control can be done on a 6mt if you get a stutterbox and hook up a clutch switch. The Procede can do it.

PROcede has it for 6 Speed Manual. It also has no lift shift. (wide open throttle shifting).

I don't understand this part

You can modulate LC on the DCT 335is btw. There is a hand full of us that are in the 11s that modulate their LC on the DCT 335is as there is more than one way to using LC on this car

just wanted to clear that up.....

If you're talking about a 2STEP rev limiter for launching on racing slicks the JB4 has that as well as no lift shifting. It also has 1st and 2nd gear boost limiting for those trying to "launch" on street tires.

I have a DCT and have used LC a few times now. The great thing about the JB4 as Mike said you can reduce the boost in 1st and 2nd gear on the fly which is a key factor to using LC IMO. I run max boost of 9-10psi in 1st and 12-13psi in 2nd when using LC.
I think the DCT does just fine with the "fake signals" being sent through the JB4.

....and one of the great things when not running "fake signals" to the DCT I can run 13-14 PSI in 1st - 3rd all day long and not skip a beat on the DCT

My bad. Heard lots of comments previously about people having issues with traction with the DCT LC but it seems there are ways around it. Good for you guys
