Any of the aftermarket air intakes designed for our cars will perform the same as factory air box. But they will sound different, that's all.

No they wont perform the same...... Open filter like dci, injen etc provide much more air than stock.
Sometimes i wonder...

Here's what I'm going to try:

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...ght=mr5+intake

or you could spend $1300 for the Dinan intake if you're loaded.....

http://www.dinancars.com/shop/D760-0...ke.aspx#page=1

You asked for the best and that's it in my opinion....not cheap though.

coupe

It looks like from your sig that you have a coupe so be advised that if you try one of the above intakes, you will likely need to remove a structural support bar that is in the way of where the intake tube routes. Not sure how Dinan gets around this, one rep says you can leave it in but I doubt it; for the Mr5 style, you can either remove the bar (it's bolted on) or use a 2.5" tube rather than a 3" tube which is what I'm going to try. That would be a 6.4cm tube in your case my friend if I'm not mistaken....

Just buy dual cone intakes for $100 and be done. Anything else would only provide an arguable very marginal gain over DCI.

This. People spend too much time worrying about intakes.

THIS^ Burger motor sports sells them its a very easy install as well.

Some might look nicer etcc but the dual cones will perform as well as anything else.

If you care more about the looks than performance and like to spend money then get dinan or AFE intake etc

The AFE Stage 2 SI is arguably the better looking and performing.

The BMS DCI is very functional and performing but not the prettiest. It's just 2 filters sitting in the engine bay at the end of the day.

The quickest cars on Drag Times are DCI equipped. That being said stock air cleaners are going into the 11 second bracket at 118mph so why spend the money unless you already have all the major mods? Get something useful like an FMIC or downpipes.

The only thing that I don't like about the scoops is that they block part of your radiator. Does it matter? Who knows...
